Chapter 1072 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
The inertia sent Sheila flying into the air. Then she landed on the grass with a loud thud. For a moment, she felt dizzy. She looked like she was in a lot of pain.
âSheila!â The sudden turn of events shocked everyone. They hurriedly ran toward Sheila to check on her. Fortunately, she wore protective gear. Moreover, the soft grass cushioned her fall.
Thus, she suffered no serious injuries and only dislocated her shoulder. âSheila, are you okay? Are you hurt?â Vivian asked, looking concerned. Evan was anxious. âDoctor! Someone get a doctor!â
He was worried that she had hit her head. If that were the case, it would have been bad. âLet me take a look,â Jayden said as he quickly approached Sheila. After examining her, he assured everyone, âItâs nothing serious. She dislocated her shoulder, thatâs all.â
He reached out and pressed his hand on Sheilaâs shoulder. Then he suddenly twisted it. A crisp sound was heard as the bone went back into place. Sheila let out a muffled groan. Her face, which was contorted with pain, gradually relaxed.
âHahaha! I won!â After reaching the finish line, Roxanne turned her horse around. She approached Sheila with a triumphant look and looked down at the latter. âSheila, youâre too lousy. âYouâve started horseback riding since you were a kid. I canât believe you managed to fall off! What a joke!â
âYou-!â Sheila was at a loss for words. She did not know what had just happened. How did Gale suddenly collapse as they were racing? Throughout the race, she had not sensed anything unusual.
âYou have to admit defeat, Sheila. Iâm taking Gale with me!â Roxanne announced triumphantly. She was delighted that she had won.
On the other hand, Sheila wore a grim expression. But unfortunately, the outcome was clear. Shelia could not take back her words in front of everyone, either.
âSheila, you were too impulsive just now,â Jayden said with heartfelt concern. âWinning or losing doesnât matter. Your safety is more important. Iâve reminded you earlier to be cautious.
âLook at what happened. You had a nasty fall, but luckily, itâs nothing serious. Otherwise, how am I supposed to explain this to your father?â
âIâm sorry,â Sheila replied, feeling upset. Jayden sighed long. âYou really donât understand the seriousness of this situation, donât you?
âIâve repeatedly said that friendship comes first, and competition is secondary. You shouldnât have risked your safety.â
Jayden appeared to be genuinely concerned about Sheila. Suddenly, Dustin spoke up. âItâs ironic that youâre saying friendship comes first, and competition is secondary.â
âWhat?â Everyone turned to look at him, confused. They did not understand what Dustin meant by that. âItâs you!â Elena exclaimed in surprise, and then her expression darkened.
She had been so focused on the horserace that she did not notice Dustin. Elena could not believe she would meet her enemy again. Resentment filled her as she looked at Dustin.
âMs. Forrest, do you know this man?â Jaydenâs eyes darted between Elena and Dustin. He was puzzled upon seeing Elenaâs reaction.
âPfft! Heâs merely an insurance agent. Do think heâs worth you my time?â Elena responded through gritted teeth.
She felt resentful. She could not let anyone know that Dustin had slapped her the day before. Otherwise, Elena would be embarrassing herself.
âAn insurance agent?â
