Chapter 1076 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âAm I seeing things? Dustin actually chose a pony?â âHeâs not thinking of racing against a Thoroughbred like Midnight Shadow with this short-legged pony, right?â
âOh my God! What is this guy even thinking? Is he out of his mind?â Everyone watched in shock as Dustin brought out the pony. As the name implied, a pony was a small and docile horse. They were specifically for the children or the elderly to ride.
They had short and stumpy limbs and were shorter than three feet. They were primarily used for recreational activities.
Meanwhile, Midnight Shadow stood at a towering 5 feet. It had long, muscular limbs, a well-proportioned physique, and ran like the wind. It outclassed the pony in every aspect.
With the two horses standing together, it was like comparing a fully grown adult to a three-year-old child. There was no point in comparing them since it was clear who was the winner just looking at their size alone.
âHey, you! Are you here to make a fool of yourself? Are you going to race against me with that pony?â Roxanne mocked boldly.
Sheâd never seen such a foolish man in her life. Even the top-grade horses couldnât compare to Midnight Shadow, let alone a low-grade horse like this pony.
âWhere did you get the courage to challenge someone to a race when you canât even choose a proper horse? What an idiot!â Elena laughed heartily. Who in their right mind would choose a pony? They were putting themselves at a huge disadvantage!
âHey! Are you crazy? This is a horse for children. âWhy did you choose it? Are you going for a joyride?â Vivian said in annoyance.
âI thought you had skills, but it turns out you know nothing. What an attention seeker!â Evan looked at Dustin like he was an idiot.
âPlease, just admit defeat. I beg you. You might not think itâs embarrassing, but we feel embarrassed for you!â The others looked at Dustin in disdain.
A race between a pony and a Thoroughbred wasnât a competition; it was utter humiliation. Anyone with a little common sense would never attempt such a thing. âMr. Kugler, did you mislead him on purpose?â Sheila frowned.
âWe have many fine purebred horses in the stable, yet you chose this horse for Dustin? What do you mean by this?â
âMs. Sheila, it wasnât me.â Kugler, the stable manager, defended. âI introduced plenty of fine horses to this gentleman, but he didnât like any of them and insisted on this one. There was nothing I could do.â
When Dustin chose the pony, he was shocked. He tried to advise against it, but sadly, Dustin didnât listen. âDustin, did you make a mistake?â Sheila asked, looking puzzled.
âThis pony is weak and has short legs. It canât run fast. Itâs considered a low- grade horse. Why donât you return to the stable and choose another one?â
âNo need, this horse will do.â Dustin patted the ponyâs head, looking satisfied. âBut you wonât be able to defeat Midnight Shadow with it.â Sheila was concerned.
If he had chosen a better horse, he would have had a chance of winning. But he would definitely lose if he raced with this pony.
âDonât worry, Iâll win.â Dustin smiled faintly, looking confident. âYouâre trying to win against Midnight Shadow with this low-grade horse? Have you lost your mind?â Roxanne mocked.
âDustin, youâd better think this through. Youâll need to pay ten million if you lose. âDonât make Sheila bear the cost for your stubbornness,â Jayden warned coldly.
He had thought Dustin was highly skilled, but it turned out that he was just a fool. âIf I lose, Iâll cover the costs myself. Thereâs no need for Sheila to pay,â Dustin said bluntly.
âHmph! Youâre just an insurance agent; where would you get the money? âElena questioned. âThatâs right! Donât try to show off when you donât have the money. Itâs embarrassing!â Vivian chimed in.
âTen million is not a small amount. Itâs an amount someone like you probably wonât earn in your lifetime.â Evan sneered in contempt. âHey! Youâre not trying to take advantage of the situation, right?â Many of them began to doubt Dustin.
Everyone was aware of Sheilaâs kind- hearted nature. If Dustin couldnât pay up after losing, she would surely step in to bear the cost. If Dustin won, he would get a valuable horse for free. He wouldnât even have to pay a thing if he lost. What a cunning man.
âIf he doesnât have the money, Iâll cover it for him,â Dahlia, who had been observing quietly the entire time, suddenly spoke up.
