Chapter 1079 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
It was truly unusual.
âHow is this even possible? The pony outran a Thoroughbred?â âWhat the hell just happened? How could he have won?â âWhat the hell was Roxanne doing? Why didnât she just gallop straight to the finish line? Why did she waste time?
After Dustin won, the entire scene was thrown into chaos. Everyone gaped in disbelief, finding it hard to accept.
In the beginning, they were certain that Roxanne would win. The horse race proceeded exactly as expected, with Midnight Shadow dominating the entire course.
However, no one could have predicted that at the last moment, Midnight Shadow would suddenly falter and refuse to run. What just happened?
Was it a protest? A tantrum? âWe won! We won! Dustin won!â After collecting herself, Sheila beamed as she cheered and leaped for joy. She couldnât believe that Dustin had won even after choosing a pony. It was truly astonishing!
âThis guy was lucky. He won just like that.â Vivian was irritated. âWhat the fuck? How? How did a pony win?â Evan was jealous and couldnât accept the outcome.
If he had known that it would be that easy, he would have competed in the race instead. That way, he would not only stand in the spotlight but also gain Sheilaâs attention. He could have killed two birds with one stone!
âNo way! He won the race by strolling throughout? How is that even possible? âElenaâs eyes twitched, and she was unsettled. She had been looking forward to humiliating Dustin after his defeat. Instead, he had won the race.
âThatâs strange.â Dahlia looked on curiously. She found it unusual that Dustin remained calm throughout. It was as if he had already expected the outcome.
âRoxanne was too arrogant. She would have won if she finished the race sooner. She just had to toy with Dustin. She brought this upon herself.â
Jayden frowned, looking grim. If she hadnât paused throughout the race, she would have easily won. This loss would ruin her reputation. If word spread out that her Midnight Shadow lost to a pony, how would she face the public?
âRoxanne, it seems like your Thoroughbred isnât all that impressive, âDustin remarked. He had a subtle sarcastic smile, looking amused. After crossing the finish line, he turned back and continued leisurely toward Roxanne on his pony.
âYou-!â Roxanne gritted her teeth as she seethed in anger. Rage overtook her, and she dismounted. Taking out her whip, she struck Midnight Shadow repeatedly. She struck so hard that the sound of the whip cracking echoed loudly.
âYou damned animal! I lost the race because of you! âWhy did you stop? Why did you make me trail behind? Iâll beat you to death!
âYou fucking beast! Youâve ruined my reputation!â Roxanne whipped continuously in anger, releasing her pent-up frustrations.
Midnight Shadow neighed endlessly and grew agitated under the relentless beating. Finally, it couldnât take it any longer and kicked Roxanne straight in the face.
Roxanne was sent flying before crashing heavily to the ground and losing consciousness. That kick had shattered her jaw. Her teeth had also been knocked out. Blood trickled from her mouth and nose.
She was nearly disfigured. It was a horrifying sight. Midnight Shadow had taught her the true meaning of karma.
