Chapter 1085 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Dustin said seriously, âCaden Murray, the Soul Devouring Technique is a crash course for those out of options.
âIf you continue down this path, youâll meet a violent end sooner or later!â âNonsense! Iâm stronger than ever now! I can take on a thousand-man army without fear!â Caden roared.
âBeing strong is all an illusion. Right now, your body is deteriorating fast. If you continue in your foolishness, youâll only end up harming yourself and those around you!â Dustin warned.
An instant death was considered merciful for those who practiced the Soul Devouring Technique. The real danger was if they went to extremes in training.
They would go berserk and not recognize their loved ones, killing everyone they saw. That was why the nearest and dearest to them often suffered from their madness. There might even come a day when Sheila will be killed by Caden.
âBrat! You can stop with the nonsense now. Even if you come up with the most ridiculous stories, I wonât spare you!â Caden sneered before reaching out to grab Dustin once more. Dustinâs expression darkened. He was about to retaliate when suddenly, a gunshot rang out from outside.
The noise stopped the both of them in their tracks. They turned toward the sound and saw a burly old man with white hair walk in proudly, accompanied by several subordinates. The old man had a squarish face and a bristly beard. His aura commanded respect from others.
It was an air forged through years of battle experience and sent shivers down the spine with just one glance. The old man was Christopher Murray, Dragonmarshâs Grand General, and the kingdomâs protector.
âDad?â Caden cooled down immediately and stood obediently, showing a respectful demeanor. âWhatâs going on? Arenât you afraid of being ridiculed? Why are you fighting at the doorstep of our home?â Christopher said sternly.
âDad, this brat harmed Roxanne. I was just about to apprehend and question him.â Caden explained with his head lowered.
âOh?â
Christopher turned his attention to Dustin and asked, âKid, you look familiar. Whatâs your name?â Dustin lowered his head respectfully. Greetings, General Murray. My name is Dustin Rhys.â
âDustin Rhys?â Christopherâs eyes lit up, and he let out a hearty laugh.
âItâs you! No wonder you look like him. âDad, you know him?â Caden was dumbfounded. âThis kid saved Sheila. Have you forgotten already?â Christopher glanced at him in displeasure.
âIt was an equal exchange. He treated her illness, and we paid him. We donât owe him anything. âBesides, he harmed Roxanne. If I donât take him in now, how will I explain it to Edgar?â Caden said bravely.
âDid Roxanne die?â Christopher countered. âNo, but-!â Caden was about to fan the flames when Christopher interrupted him impatiently.
âSheâs not dead, right? Whatâs with all the nonsense? If Edgar is unhappy, ask him to talk to me!â
âWhat?â Caden was taken aback. Wasnât his father usually protective of his own? What happened to him? Roxanne was injured, yet he wasnât concerned.
âWhat are you still standing there for? Move!â Christopher pushed Caden away and grabbed Dustinâs shoulder. With a smile, Christopher said, âKid, youâre finally here. We need to drink to our heartâs content tonight!â
Caden watched them leave at a loss. What just happened?
The world had turned upside down!
