âSay that again?â Scarletâs expression was frosty. She pointed the tip of her sword against Natashaâs throat. If she just pushed forward an inch more, would easily end up dead. Natasha âHmm?â
Natasha frowned at the sight of the blade against her throat. She hadnât expected Scarlet to have such a bad temper and draw her sword without a word.
She was also certain that Scarlet was serious. If she provoked her further, she would be as good as dead. It seemed like she had met her match. This woman before her was harder to deal with than Dahlia.
âStop it!â Amid their deadlock, Dustin suddenly rushed in.
âDustin, youâre here!â Scarlet immediately sheathed her sword. Her previous cold demeanor was replaced by a smile.
âScarlet, what were you doing earlier?â Dustin frowned, evidently displeased. âNothing, I was just joking around with Ms. Harmon,â Scarlet said with a smile.
âJoking around?â
Dustin turned to Natasha and asked softly, âAre you hurt?â âIâm fine. I was bored earlier and asked to see Ms. Spannerâs sword. She was just handing it to me.â Natasha smiled.
Her words surprised Scarlet. She thought Natasha would rat her out. She didnât expect her to cover up for her instead.
âThankfully, youâre fine. Swords are dangerous. Be careful next time. I donât want any of you getting hurt, understand?â
As he emphasized the last word, he turned his attention toward Scarlet. His gaze carried a hint of warning.
âOkay, I got it.â Scarlet lowered her head like a student getting scolded by their teacher. Anyone who witnessed that scene would have been astonished. Who would dare to lecture the Scarlet Warrior in the whole of Dragonmarsh?
âDustin, come with me for a moment.â 11 Natasha plastered on a professional smile before walking out of the guest lounge.
Dustin felt inexplicably uneasy. Still, he knew he had to confront the situation. He followed her to a secluded area. where Natasha stopped. She turned around, her smile even brighter.
Dustinâs uneasiness deepened. Her smile seemed to hide a different agenda. âAsk away, Natasha. I have nothing to hide.â Dustin was somewhat hesitant..
âDonât be so nervous. I wonât bite.â Natasha dusted off his shoulders. She said with a smile, âWhy donât you tell me who Ms. Spanner is? She doesnât seem like an ordinary woman.â
âTo be honest, Scarlet is the Oakvale Spannersâ daughter. She is also known as Dragonmarshâs Goddess of War,â Dustin said truthfully.
âScarlet Spanner? The Scarlet Warrior? âNatasha raised an eyebrow. âI canât believe itâs her.â Natasha had heard of the Scarlet Warrior. She was Oakvaleâs top female prodigy among the younger generation.
She was one of the most prominent figures in Dragonmarsh, regardless of status or identity. âWhatâs your relationship with her? Why is she looking for you?â Natashaâs curiosity grew.
She had always believed that Dustin was no ordinary man. Even so, she didnât expect him to be connected to a prodigy like Scarlet.
âOur mothers were good friends. Thatâs why weâve known each other since childhood. However, I left Oakvale ten years ago, and weâve lost contact ever since. âIt was only recently that we ran into each other,â Dustin explained in detail.
âSo you really were childhood friends?â Natasha asked in jealousy, âSo the arranged marriage she mentioned was true?â
âWhat arranged marriage? It was just a childhood promise. It was nothing serious.â
Dustin shook his head. âEver since my mom passed away, the relationship between our families had become distant. Besides, Iâve always seen her as a sister, nothing more.â
âA sister?â Natasha said with a tinge of resentment, âBut she doesnât seem to see you as just a brother. Sheâs so beautiful. Are you sure you wonât fall for her?â
âNo matter how beautiful she is, can she compare to you?â Dustin replied seriously. âThatâs true.â Natasha was visibly delighted. âSince when did you become a smooth talker? I didnât expect that.â
âIâm just stating facts,â Dustin said righteously. Natasha laughed. âAlright, you passed. âShe beamed.
âI wonât hold Scarletâs situation against you, but you need to be careful. That kid seems to rely on you a little too much. If you donât handle the situation well, it might destroy her.â
Though Natasha had never met Scarlet, she had heard of her reputation. Scarlet was known as the cold and ruthless Goddess of War who killed without hesitation.
Ever since she became a prominent figure, she worked independently. She never yielded to anyone, not even the royal family.
However, Scarlet was like a well- behaved girl in front of Dustin. Not only that, she also seemed nervous and fearful. It was as if she was afraid of upsetting him.
It was the complete opposite of her usual personality. As a woman, Natasha understood that Scarlet had developed deep feelings for Dustin and had come to rely on him.
For someone as cold and detached as Scarlet, once they fell in love, they tended to become entangled and found it hard to let go. That was why Natasha was worried that if Dustin were to hurt Scarlet, she might go insane.
âScarlet is like a sister to me. She still sees me through the lens of our childhood experiences. It would be hard to change that perspective in the short term.
âBut I believe that time will eventually help her see reality,â Dustin replied without much thought. Their positions in life had changed. It was only natural for them to grow apart over time.
âI hope so.â Natasha nodded in contemplation.
âDustin, are you done talking to her?â Just then, they heard Scarlet calling out from afar. She had walked out of the guest lounge as she had been waiting for some time and grew concerned.
âWhatâs wrong?â Dustin asked.
âIâm hungry,â Scarlet said as she rubbed her belly.
âSince Ms. Spanner is hungry, letâs get something to eat. It just so happens that a new restaurant has opened up in Millsburg.
âLetâs try it out together,â Natasha, suggested with a smile.
âAlright, then letâs go.â Dustin nodded.
He brought them into the car and drove them to the restaurant. Right as they left Zephyr Lodge, two MPVs followed them discreetly.
