An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1239
âYou gonna tear down my place?â
Arthur taunted.
âChristopher, just because you have your men with you doesnât mean you get to mess around in my territory. Your Murray family may be strong, but they are no match for the Grant family. I wonât hold back from taking action because Iâm in charge here.â
âYou wonât hold back, huh? Letâs have a match and see whoâs tougher!â Christopher rolled up his sleeves, getting ready for a fight.
He figured a good fight would be more satisfactory than endless conversation. âChristopher, itching for a brawl, arenât you? Alright, Iâll find someone you can fight!â
Arthur raised his voice and shouted, Zachary, itâs your turn!â
âHahaha!â Suddenly, there was an eruption of laughter from all sides. It was so loud that the crowd was forced to cover their ears. Out of nowhere, a crimson figure fell from the sky like a cannonball. The figure landed with a loud explosion that sent rocks flying and a cloud of dust billowing.
A strong wind from the explosion ruffled the crowdâs hair, causing their clothes to flutter. They squinted to see past the dust.
As the wind subsided, a tall, middle- aged man in a fiery red robe and silver hair stood confidently. He had sharp eyes and emitted a heat that raised the surrounding temperature.
âItâs Zachary Graves! One of the five ultimate grandmasters of Balerno!â
The entire scene erupted in astonishment when they saw his face.
âWhat? Zachary Graves? Whatâs he doing here?â
âWow! I never expected to see a grandmaster martial artist here!â
âWith Zachary here, General Murray and his men wonât get away with anything today.â
Zacharyâs presence ignited the crowdâs excitement. The five ultimate grandmasters of Balerno were exceptionally skilled. Each of them was capable of taking on many opponents. At that moment, the Grant family had grown even stronger with Zachary on their side.
âArthur, I heard there was some commotion here. Do you know whoâs causing it?â Zachary approached confidently, his head held high.
âWell, itâs these people right in front of you.â Arthur pointed to Christopher and his men.
âChristopher, you were itching for a match, right? Well, nowâs your chance to prove yourself. Test your skills against Zachary. Letâs see how you fare.
Christopher furrowed his brow at the suggestion. He knew Zacharyâs martial prowess was as good as Paulâs. Even at his best, Christopher wouldnât have been sure of victory. Now, he was still recovering from his recent injuries two days ago. If they clashed, there was no guarantee he would win.
âCalling for backup doesnât prove your strength. If youâre brave enough, challenge me yourself!â Christopher said to Arthur.
âZachary is a guest of the Grant family, not a stranger,â Arthur responded calmly. âBesides, Iâm a civil servant. I donât engage in physical combat.
âIf youâre eager for a fight, then challenge him. But if you donât feel up to it, take your group and leave.â
âOld fool, you think you can outsmart me with this plan? Do you believe I canât handle you?â Christopher said firmly.
âGeneral Murray, Iâve heard about your long and successful career on the battlefield, with skills that left everyone in awe. You have never tasted defeat. Iâm genuinely excited to witness your skills.â
