Though the Prince of Theswe was influential, they could not do as they wished. Besides, this was taboo to begin with, so they could not openly help Dustin with it.
âI understand. Thank you for your help, Eloise.â
Dustin stood up and bowed in gratitude. The information that Eloise had provided him with was essential. Not only to figure out the truth but, more importantly, it also meant that he now had another confidant to turn to.
âWeâre family. Thereâs no need to be so courteous. Eloise quickly reached out to Dustin, gesturing for him to straighten up. Then, she gave him some sincere advice.
âLogan, Iâm not stopping you from getting the revenge you seek. But I hope you understand that your thoughts define your actions, and your actions define who you are.
âDo not lose yourself in your search for revenge, and do not let the people around you down.â
âI will keep your advice in mind, Eloise. âDustin nodded. âIf thereâs ever anything I can help with, just let me know, Logan! I promise Iâll handle it perfectly!â Austin patted his chest confidently.
How Dustin changed his way of addressing Eloise as âYour Highnessâ to calling her casually by her name showed that he had warmed up to them significantly.
âYou donât have to worry yourself with my affairs. Youâre better off taking good care of yourself so that your mother doesnât have to worry about you so much,â Dustin reminded him.
âHey, what do you mean, Logan? You havenât seen me in such a long time. âIâm no longer the kid I was! I can take good care of myself now!â Austin huffed with his arms crossed.
âAlright, alright. Quit bragging. Do you think I donât know how youâre behaving?â Dustin rolled his eyes.
âOh, are you underestimating me? Iâm telling you, one day, Iâll do something great and make you proud of me!â Austin declared with his chin lifted upwards.
âSure thing, kiddo. Iâm already proud of you now.â Dustin nodded before turning his gaze to Eloise. âEloise, youâve had a long journey. You both must be worn out. Iâve got rooms made for you. Please head over and get some rest. â
âNow that you mentioned, Iâm exhausted. Iâll go back to my room to nap. You carry on with your business.â
Eloise nodded with a smile. Then, she turned and left together with Austin. Once they were out of the meeting room, Austin stopped and wiped the smile off his face.
âWhatâs wrong?â Eloise turned and shot him a perplexed look âMom, why did you tell Logan about Cinna?â Austin asked frostily. âWasnât Logan the one who asked for his information?â Eloise countered.
âYou know how hung up Logan is with this. By giving him the information, youâre just egging him on and encouraging him to go to Oakvale.
âWhatâs your motive behind doing that?â Austin questioned.
âAustin, what are you going on about?
Why donât I get what youâre trying to say?â Eloise looked at him curiously.
âMom, are you trying to get Logan into trouble?â
Austin narrowed his eyes at her, and his tone became sharp, âLoganâs my only brother. If you ever harm him, I wonât let you off!â
âAustin, what reason have I got to harm Logan?â Eloise frowned.
âOnce Logan dies, Iâll be the next in line to be the future Prince of Theswe. That must be what youâre thinking of, isnât it?â Austin asked icily.
âWhat nonsense!â Eloiseâs expression clouded over. Austin! Iâm not only your mother but also Loganâs stepmother!
âWeâre a family! Weâre supposed to help each other out! âWhy would I want to harm him? Where did you get such ideas from?â
âPerhaps there have been some rumors going around.â Austin looked at his mother meaningfully. âIâm beat, Mom. Iâll head back to my room to get some rest. See you tomorrow.â
And with that, Austin turned and left.
âYou rascalâ¦â
As Eloise watched his retreating figure, she raised a brow. âYouâre a sharp one.â
