An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1277
âWait a second!â Caldwell suddenly came back to his senses. He quickly exclaimed, âYou canât seriously believe what this brat is saying, can you? Heâs not even from Harmony Healers! Donât be fooled!â
âFooled?â The head bodyguard looked Dustin up and down before he frowned and asked, âYouâre not a doctor?â
âIâm not a doctor from Harmony Healers, but I do have some medical knowledge,â Dustin told him honestly. He had nothing to hide.
âHmph! If Harmony Healers canât save her, what makes you think you can?â Caldwell snarled. âJust because you canât doesnât mean I canât too. As I told you, you were using the wrong method,â Dustin said calmly.
âRubbish! Iâm Dr. Buschâs star apprentice! Who are you to compare yourself to me?â Caldwell fumed in frustration.
âI donât want to waste time with you. Move aside. Donât distract me from saving the patient,â Dustin said impatiently.
He really couldnât understand what was going on inside Caldwellâs head. Was he trying to stop Dustin from saving the patient just because he failed to do so himself?
âHey, rascal, Iâm warning you, this is the daughter of the Welch family. âIf anything happens to her, you wonât be able to appease them even if you pay with your life!â Caldwell threatened. The crowd nodded in agreement at what he said.
âHey buddy, donât try to be a hero. If even a doctor from Harmony Healers canât help her, what can you do for her?
âThatâs right! This is a life on the line! You canât be messing around! This is not the time for you to play hero!â
âYoungsters these days do not know their place. He thinks he can show off just because he has a few tricks up his sleeves. He doesnât seem to value life at all!â
The elder folks around them chattered incessantly. Some advised Dustin against it, and some doubted him.
In their eyes, Harmony Healers was the best medical center in the area. This was where they sought medical help whenever they suffered any sickness or complicated conditions. For this young man in his twenties to show off his medical skills at Harmony Healers, he was just arrogant.
âWe donât have much time left. Itâs your call whether or not I help her.â
Dustin could not be bothered to waste his breath on them.
He looked at the head bodyguard and said, âIf you trust me, Iâll help her, and Ms. Welch still has a chance at life. If you do not, we can all just forget I ever said anything.â
He had the intention to save her. But if his help were not wanted, he would not waste his effort lest they repay his kindness with ungratefulness.
âHey, donât trust him! Heâs just a swindler!â
âThese people will do anything to show off and make themself known!â
âYour best bet is to send Ms. Welch to the hospital right away! There might still be hope for her!â Caldwell suggested in a rush of panic.
If Eleanor were to die in Harmony Healers, the blame would be on Caldwell. But if she were to die at the hospital, he could use Dr Buschâs reputation and attempt to evade the responsibility.
âItâs too late to send her to the hospital now. Weâve only three minutes left to resuscitate Ms. Welch. Once the three minutes are up, not even God can save her,â Dustin said.
âThatâs rubbish! If we send Ms. Welch to the hospital in time, sheâll be fine! âIf you keep causing a disturbance here, youâll delay Ms. Welch from getting the treatment she needs!
âYouâll be responsible for anything that happens to her then!â Caldwell roared in exasperation.
âLetâs not waste time on useless talk. Give me an answer now. Do I save her or not?â Dustin looked straight at the head bodyguard.
The head bodyguard looked at Eleanor, who looked no different from a corpse. Then, he nodded firmly. âSave her! Do it at once!â
Though he had no medical knowledge, one thing he knew was that time was of the essence. They had to be fast, or sheâd be done for.
But the nearest hospital was 20 minutes away by car. At this point, they did not have the luxury of time. Dustin was his last resort.
âExcuse me, how can you let a swindler treat someone of Ms. Welchâs status like him? Who would be responsible if anything happened to her?â Caldwell panicked.
âShut the fuck up!â The head bodyguard gave him another hard slap.
âYou asshole! This is all your fault! If anything happens to Ms. Welch, youâre the first one I murder, you motherfucker!â
âWhat?â Caldwell held his stinging cheek, looking like death was upon his door. He had been attempting to shift the blame onto Dustin, but that didnât seem to work well for him. âMove aside.â
