An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1308
Even though Harper was talented, it didnât mean she could outshine everyone. After all, Oakvale was a place where elites gathered. It was a city with an abundance of talent.
âGrandpa, I was renowned as a prodigy back in school. That title belongs to me, and no one can dispute it. Iâm better off dead if I canât even win todayâs literary event,â Harper said confidently.
âWhy would you even say that?â Brooke frowned slightly.
âMaster Busch, Harper is exceptionally talented and highly skilled in this regard. I believe she will do well,â Cody said with a smile.
âDid you hear that? Even Cody thinks so. Iâm going to be the standout performer today!â Harper added, her confidence reaching new heights. Brooke shook his head in resignation. Harperâs arrogance would get her into trouble sooner or later.
âItâs almost time. Letâs head upstairs,â Cody said, leading the group to the second floor. Compared to the extravagance on the first floor, the second floor exuded an air of elegance and refinement. Every decorative element was meticulously arranged, leaving no room for criticism.
Several VIPs were already gathered on the second floor, each accompanied by one or two pretentious literary enthusiasts.
Regal Courtâs quarterly literary event consistently drew its regular clientele. It served as an effective marketing strategy.
Cody led the group to their reserved table. Given the size of Regal Court, it didnât feel crowded despite the number of attendees.
âWell, isnât this the great Harper Busch?â Suddenly, they heard someoneâs voice, almost teasing. The owner of the voice was an alluring woman dressed sexily, swaying her hips as she approached them. Beside her was a smart-looking man dressed in a white-sleeved shirt. He carried a gentle and intellectual air to him.
âLana Camron? What are you doing here?â Harper frowned when she saw her, the smile on her face vanishing.
âThe Camrons are pretty influential in South City. Whatâs so surprising about me dining here?â
Lana scrutinized Harper from head to toe before mocking her, âBut how did a little name like yours manage to get into Regal Court?
âThatâs none of your concern! Youâre just slightly richer. Whatâs the big deal?
Harper puffed up her chest. The woman before her was not only her ex-classmate but also her love rival. Throughout their four years in university, Lana had constantly overshadowed her in terms of wealth, influence and physique.
She had even openly stolen her boyfriend, which wasnât just a one- time occurrence. That was why Harper resented Lana intensely.
âSorry, but itâs a pretty big deal to be rich.â
Lana continued with a mischievous grin, âFor example, I can dine here every day. But you? You can only be here through someone else. Thatâs the difference between us.
âOh, right, take more photos if you have the time and share them on social media. Treasure this rare opportunity. After all, itâs a miracle for someone like you to even set foot in here.â
âYou-â Harperâs face flushed red in anger.
Why did those words sound so familiar?
