An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1317
âHmph! What would you know? How could the riddles from Regal Court be deduced from common sense?â
Harperâs expression was grim. âDonât think x you can boss me around just because you got lucky. Youâre still unworthy and lacking in talent!â
In her view, Dustin had simply been lucky earlier. But blind luck like that couldnât last. âIs that so? Seems like youâre very confident in your answer, Ms. Busch.â Dustin smiled ambiguously.
âOf course!â Harper cocked her head. âIâm well-versed in poetry and have exceptional talent. If I canât figure out a simple word riddle, how could I ever show my face in public again?â
Upon hearing this, Dustin sniggered. Harperâs confidence was truly remarkable. âDustin, why donât you share what you think? We can discuss it together,â Cody said.
âSince youâre willing to listen, Iâll share my opinion.â
Dustin took a sip of tea before saying, â I am the beginning of everything, the end of everywhere. Iâm the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space.â
âEverything begins with the letter E, and everywhere ends with E. Eternity begins with E, and space ends with E.â
âHmph! I know what letters those words begin and end with. Thereâs no need for you to show off your spelling skills.â Harper scoffed.
âDustin, so your answer is?â Cody inquired.
âThe letter E,â Dustin stated.
âThe letter E?â Cody was taken aback. âWhat a load of crap!â As soon as Dustin gave his answer, Harper immediately retorted.
âWhat do you mean by the letter E? Thatâs utter nonsense! Youâre only analyzing it superficially. Do you really think Regal Court will present such shallow riddles?
âIâm just answering the riddle based on its clues. Itâs up to you to believe me or not.â Dustin shrugged. There was no use arguing with such an arrogant woman like Harper. No matter how well he presented his case, she would find ways to pick it apart and argue against it.
âCody, donât listen to his crap. I have the right answer!â Harper swore.
âIâ¦â Cody looked between them hesitatingly.
Both of their explanations made sense.
He didnât know who to listen to.
âCody, donât you trust my judgment?â Harper frowned, evidently upset. She added, âYou should be well aware of my talents. The previous question was just a slip-up. Iâm 100% confident Iâll get this riddle right!â
âReally?â Cody raised an eyebrow.
âI swear!â Harper said solemnly. âAlright, since youâre so confident, Iâll try again!â Cody said with heightened spirits. If she put it that way, she must be extremely confident in her answer. It would not be wrong again.
âMr. Jankow, I know the answer.â Cody stood up once again, gaining the attention of the crowd. Since he had embarrassed himself earlier, he had to redeem himself this time.
âPlease, go ahead.â Keanu nodded slightly. âThe beginning of everything, the end of everywhere. The beginning of eternity, the end of time and space.
âThis poem conveys a sense of uncertainty and sadness; hence, my answer is death!â Cody answered with his head raised.
âDeath?â
