Chapter 1371 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âWow! Thatâs amazing! He could make the paper crane fly?â
âIs this the occult expert they were talking about? This is truly impressive!â
The display by Theodore left the Welch family in awe. Theyâd only heard about such things in stories but had never seen them in real life. âWhat do you think? Now, do you believe in Sir Craneâs abilities?â Ezra said proudly.
âWow, thatâs what you call a true master!â Alistair exclaimed with a newfound respect. He thought, âIf Dad is truly under some sort of spell, then only someone with extraordinary abilities could cure him.â
âBut itâs just a simple trick, really, nothing much,â Theodore remarked casually, appearing humble.
âThe crane trick we just saw is just a small part of his skills. Sir Crane has more in store for us. Letâs eagerly await the next performance,â Ezra added.
âThatâs great.â Alistair nodded with a smile. âEleanor, you donât need to worry. With Sir Crane here, Grandpa will be fine.â
Ezra smiled smugly. But Eleanor responded dismissively with a huff and averted her gaze. Ezra looked embarrassed for a second but quickly covered it up.
Instead, he looked at Brooke and said nonchalantly, âDr. Busch, I heard you mention that you know another occult expert. Is this person possibly more skilled than Sir Crane?â
Ezra had been eyeing the Harmony Healers for a while, but Brookeâs resistance was a thorn in his side.
âWellâ¦â Brooke hesitated, feeling cornered. âSir Crane is unmatched in his mastery of the occult.â
âIf youâre not up to the task, thereâs no need to be embarrassed that you canât. Weâll leave Mr. Welch Seniorâs strange sickness to Sir Crane,â Ezra said, implying that Brooke was inadequate.
Brooke furrowed his brow but quickly regained his composure. In the end, he said nothing since he knew he couldnât afford to provoke someone of Ezraâs stature.
âMr. Swanson, donât jump to conclusions so fast. We donât know whoâs making a fool of themselves yet. A calm voice chimed in suddenly.
Everyone turned to the source of the voice and saw a casually dressed, handsome young man strolling over. It was none other than Dustin.
âDustin!â Eleanorâs face lit up with joy as she rushed to greet him. âWhy are you here?â âI heard from Dr. Busch that your grandfather is suffering from a strange sickness, so I came to have a look,â Dustin said with a smile.
âOh, so youâre the occult expert that Dr. Busch mentioned?â Eleanor quickly realized. âI wouldnât call myself an expert, just someone who knows a bit about occult, âDustin modestly replied.
âHa! You know just a little, and yet youâre showing off? Arenât you afraid of making a fool of yourself?â Ezra sneered.
Since the incident at the Imperial Oasis Club the day before, Ezra had held a grudge against Dustin. This resentment prompted him to ask Sheehan for help by involving Theodore.
But as Ezra was about to take his revenge, an unexpected crisis hit the Welch family. Hence, Ezra quickly brought in Theodore to gain their favor. What Ezra didnât expect was Dustin showing up; it ruined his plans now!
âLook at Mr. Swansonâs expression,â Dustin said, a sly smile on his lips. âIt seems like heâs not very pleased. How about we continue the game from yesterday?â
âYou-â Ezraâs temper flared briefly. He wanted to retort, but his concern for his image kept him in check. Dustin dared to provoke Ezra, pushing his patience to the brink.
âWho is this?â Alistair seemed puzzled.
âDad, this is Dustin Rhys, a doctor who once saved my life. Now, heâs a dear friend of mine.â Eleanor spoke. She intentionally cast a glance toward Ezra as if bragging.
