Chapter 1374 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Theodoreâs demeanor had taken a dramatic shift from his earlier arrogance.
âDoctor! Whereâs the doctor? Get me some bandages!â He cried for help, terrified.
Alistair, Brooke, and the others exchanged perplexed glances at Theodoreâs frantic behavior. This wasnât what they had expected at all. What happened to the occult expertâs dignified image?
âHeâs mad! Mr. Welch Senior is insane! He bit my ear off and ate my flesh! Why on earth isnât he tied up?â Theodore shouted as he received medical treatment.
âSir Crane, I mentioned earlier that my dad tends to become aggressive due to his strange illness,â Alistair explained.
âAggressive? This goes beyond aggression. Itâs outright cannibaliona.!
Theodoreâs composure was falling apart.
âSir Crane, youâve been injured. How about taking a breather?â Ezra cleared his throat, looking uncomfortable.
He had brought Theodore here to win the Welch familyâs favor and strengthen their relations, not to create an embarrassing spectacle.
âOh, what rotten luck,â Theodore grumbled as he sat down to be treated. âSir Crane, it seems that your talisman didnât do the trick,â Dustin quipped with a smirk.
âWhat do you know? It was just a fluke. Iâll give it another go tomorrow; Iâll definitely succeed!â Theodore declared confidently.
âSeriously? Another shot and you might just end up having more than your face disfigured,â Dustin remarked nonchalantly.
âWho do you think you are? How dare you look down on me?â Theodore jumped up, his blood boiling. But his sudden move aggravated his injury, making him wince in pain.
The whole scene struck everyone as comical. So much for the occult expert; he looked anything but impressive now.
âEase up on the wisecracks, Dustin. Even if Sir Crane had a little hiccup, itâs not your place to decide,â Ezra said sternly.
âSo, do you still want to heal him or not? If not, Iâm going to give it a shot,â Dustin responded coolly. âYou? Do you have what it takes?â Ezra sneered.
âYou donât know what youâre dealing with!â Theodore snorted.
âYou think you can solve something I couldnât handle with my talisman? Dream on.â
âOnly one way to find out. Letâs see if Iâve got what it takes,â Dustin said confidently.
âFine! Since youâre so eager to step up, Iâll give you a shot to prove yourself,â Theodore retorted with a chilly smile. He thought, âHmph! His embarrassing failure can cover up for my previous hiccup.â
âDustin⦠Are you sure?â Alistair asked cautiously. He pondered whether Dustin could succeed when Theodore had previously failed in curing his fatherâs strange illness.
âMr. Welch, given the current situation, it couldnât get any worse, could it?â Dustin answered without giving Alistair a clear answer.
âThatâs true. Please proceed then,â Alistair agreed, nodding.
After all, there wasnât much choice. The Welch family had to try anything at this point. Dustin approached the sickbed and started his examination of Welch Seniorâs condition.
Then, he explained, âRegular witchcraft would only make someone weak and unconscious. Instances like Mr. Welch Seniorâs sudden hysteria are quite uncommon.â
With a steady tone, he elaborated, âThe only plausible explanation is the presence of an unusual object nearby controlling his body.â
âHah! Are you trying to impress the crowd?â Ezra jeered. âYeah! Do you take them as fools?â Theodore added dismissively.
âFound it!â Dustin suddenly exclaimed, his eyes lighting up as he reached beneath the mattress.
