Chapter 1376 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âThatâs true! Grandpa tends to get sick often, and each time, he ends up bedridden!â Eleanor nodded enthusiastically.
âSo, this situation has given the spellcaster an opportunity,â Dustin said with a faint grin. âHonestly, healing Mr. Welch Senior is pretty easy. We just have to rid him of that blood gem and assist him in replenishing his energy. Soon, heâll be fine.
âI just performed acupuncture to help him sleep soundly and ease his restlessness. Iâll also give him a remedy to calm his mind. With rest, he should recover in about ten days.â
âIs that it? Are you for real?â Ezra asked skeptically. âWhat if youâre trying to pull a fast one on us?â
Dustin raised an eyebrow, and he said earnestly, âIâm serious. If we didnât find that blood gem, Mr. Welch Seniorâs condition would have deteriorated.â
Joanne chimed in, her concern evident, âWe donât fully understand what youâre saying, but weâre hoping he can wake up soon.â
âMr. Welch Senior has just dozed off, and he needs some rest right now. We shouldnât disturb him; it could mess things up,â Dustin explained.
âHumph! Youâve said a whole bunch, but why should we trust you? We need a clear answer right now. When will Mr. Welch Senior wake up?â Ezra persisted.
âHeâll recover swiftly; he should be awake by tonight, or at the latest, by tomorrow,â Dustin responded.
âFine! Weâll give it one more day. If Mr. Welch Senior isnât awake by tomorrow, youâll be accused of murder!â Ezra declared.
âWhatever you said.â Dustin shrugged, not appearing fazed by Ezraâs threats. To him, Ezra was nothing more than a fool, not worth his concern.
âDr. Rhys, youâve been a tremendous help. You should rest here today, and let us extend our hospitality.â Alistair smiled.
Without waiting for Dustinâs refusal, he ordered, âPrepare a room for Dr. Rhys with some food and drinks; donât keep him waiting!â
âMr. Welch, Iâm grateful for your generosity. Iâll accept your offer,â Dustin replied with a faint smile. He understood that Alistairâs intention in keeping him was due to his lack of trust.
He thought, âIf Mr. Welch Senior wakes up tomorrow, everything will be fine. But if he doesnât, that will be a different situation.â
âEleanor, show Dustin around and help him get acquainted with the place,â Joanne said.
âOkay!â Eleanor smiled sweetly. âDustin, letâs go. Iâll show you around the garden.â With that, she took his hand and led him outside.
âEleanorâ¦â
Seeing this, Ezra quickly stepped in their way. He had a flattering smile and said, âIâd like to talk to you. Can you spare a few minutes?â
âNo!â Eleanorâs expression stiffened.â Get out of the way!â âEleanor, I just need five minutes. Iâll leave once Iâm done,â Ezra pleaded anxiously.
âI wonât listen! Move aside!â Eleanor forcefully stomped on Ezraâs foot. When he cried out in pain, she swiftly pulled Dustin away.
âEleanor! Hey!â Ezra winced in pain and hobbled after them. Once they were gone, Alistair whispered to his wife. âJoanne, do you believe that guyâs words?â
âI only believe part of it,â she responded indifferently. âDustin has an unclear background, and his origins are mysterious. By getting close to our family, he may have ulterior motives.â
âDo you think I should send someone to investigate him?â Alistair asked. âOf course, we must investigate,â Joanne said, her eyes flashing with determination.
âIf he truly has bad intentions, we canât allow him to stay!â
