Chapter 1491 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âSir, what about this guy? You decide.â Abigail glared at Ezra, who was on his knees. If looks could kill, Ezra would be dead by now.
At that moment, Ezra snapped out of his daze, pleading, âDustin, please donât kill me! I messed up; I wonât mess with you again. I swear, I wonât cross you from now on! Please, spare me!â
âSpare you?â Dustin chuckled, âAfter all your ploys to mess with me, you think Iâd just let you off? Does that even make sense?â
Ezra crawled over, grabbed Dustinâs leg, and bawled, âDustin! No, Sir Rhys! It wasnât me; it was all Eleanorâs crazy idea! I just followed orders. Please, Iâm begging you, let me off the hook!â
âEleanor?â Dustin narrowed his eyes. â Tell me, was this attempt on my life payback, or did you have another scheme?â
Ezra didnât hesitate and disclosed,â Due to the Dew Balm issue, we faced setbacks. So, Eleanor proposed to kidnap and rough you up.
âTheyâre hoping to extract more of top- notch formula to recover our losses and rebuild our reputation.â
âThat woman is cold-blooded. I did her favors multiple times and even saved her life. And she pays me back with this revenge!
âSheâs pushing me all my buttons. Iâd be in deep trouble by now if I were just a regular guy,â Dustin said, his gaze cold.
âYeah! That woman repays good deeds with bad. I never liked her!â Ezra nodded vigorously.
âSir Rhys! Spare my life, and Iâll be your right-hand man. I can help you deal with Eleanor and make her pay for her crap!â
âEleanor is your fiancée. Are you really okay with betraying her?â Dustin asked in a knowing tone.
âWhat fiancée? Weâre just in an arranged marriage for the alliance between our families. There is no personal connection. Plus, who could like such a conniving woman?â Ezra complained. Heâd never be with Eleanor if it werenât for his old manâs strict orders.
âGiven your sincerity, Iâll allow you to make things right,â Dustin said coolly.
âGo back and tell the Welch family theyâve got three days to hand over the precious herb I need. If not, Iâm tearing them down.â
âOkay, I got it! Iâll deliver the message! âEzra nodded repeatedly.
âI donât want anyone else to know about todayâs events. Got it?â Dustin glared menacingly at Ezra:
âGot it, got it!â Ezra nodded repeatedly.
âAlright. Now, scram.â Dustin waved his hand.
âThank you, Sir Rhys!â Ezra nodded a few times, then hightailed it out of the old mansion. He looked as if heâd been scared out of his mind.
âSir, he tried to harm you. You just letting him go?â Abigail was a bit puzzled. âThis guy still has some use. Let him stick around a bit longer.â Dustin said it casually.
He could have easily killed Ezra, but that would surely cause both the Welch and Swanson families to come at him. He was not scared, but it could complicate things and mess with the bigger plan. So, he chose to instill fear in Ezra.
With Ezraâs words, he could spread how formidable Dustin was and make the Swanson family realize how pointless it was to mess with him. Then, he could simultaneously cut ties with the Welch family. This would leave the Welch family on their own, making them easier to handle.
âAlright, as long as youâre happy, Sir.â Abigail sweetly smiled. A nobody like Ezra was just small fries, and whether he lived or died wasnât a big deal.
âAbigail, how long have you been in Oakvale?â Dustin changed the subject.
âI just got here.â Abigail spilled.
âThe Mystic Arts Order snagged a big business deal recently. Grandma told me to lead the team-a chance to gain experience and enjoy a little vacation. You know, let loose and have some fun out here.â
