Chapter 1494 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Enough was enough, and the tension between Ezra and Eleanor was about to spill over.
âEzra, I get that things have been tough, but come on, be a man! Youâre not seriously leaving me, a fragile lady, to deal with everything on my own, right?â Eleanor huffed, displeased with Ezra.
âWhatever! Iâm done with your drama. From now on, donât bother finding me. And about our engagement, consider it over!â Ezra declared with a cold tone.
âOver?â Eleanor widened her eyes, finding it hard to believe. âEzra, are you joking? Are you aware of what youâre saying?â
âDidnât you catch that the first time? Let me spell it out-I want to call off the engagement!â Ezra raised his voice.
âCall off the engagement?â Eleanor was utterly baffled. She never expected him to say such a thing. Just the night before, he was compliant and eager to please. It seemed like he had turned into an entirely different person overnight.
âEzra! Donât be ridiculous!â Barry scolded. Even if they were to cut ties with the Welch family, there was no need to publicly break off the engagement, turning it into an open feud.
âMr. Swanson, is Ezra sick or something?â Eleanor cautiously asked. âIâm not sick! Iâm perfectly fine!â Ezra snapped. He couldnât hold back any longer.
âEleanor, Iâve put up with you for far too long. Do you even realize how insufferable you are? Youâre spoiled, petty, and easily jealous.
âWhenever you see a woman prettier or more talented than you, you go out of your way to tear her down. Youâre nothing but a toxic person!â
âYou⦠How dare you insult me?â Eleanor was shocked and furious. No one had ever dared to humiliate her like this and to make matters worse, it was her fiancé.
âInsult you? So what? Iâm sick of playing along with your bullshit. Leave! âEzra declared, showing no mercy.
âYou insolent fool!â Eleanor seethed, landing a fierce slap on Ezraâs face.
âWhat the hell! You slapped me?â Ezra shot back, responding with a powerful slap that caused Eleanor to stagger and fall.
Her once fair complexion quickly turned red and swollen from the impact.
âYou ⦠how dare you lay your hands on me?â Eleanor covered her cheek, looking both astonished and resentful. No one had ever dared to raise a hand against her. 1
âDisgusting!â Ezra spat on the ground. âYou think Iâll still tolerate your nonsense like before? Iâve woken up to reality. Iâm done playing the lapdog. If you try anything, I wonât hold back!â
âEzra! I demand you to apologize immediately, or youâll face warth of the Welch family!â Eleanor threatened him with a stern voice.
Her familyâs influence was greater than the Swanson familyâs, giving her the confidence to make such a threat.
âOh yeah? Bring it on! Do you think Iâm afraid of you? Iâd rather see the whole thing crumble than continue being your lackey! Fish or cut bait!â Ezra roared.
âEzra! Youâve gone too far!â Eleanor was furious, her face contorted with rage. She thought using intimidation would make Ezra back down, but she was surprised to find him standing his ground, even ready to go against the Welch family.
âEnough, Eleanor! Go back and tell your parents to return what they owe Dustin. Otherwise, the Welch family will face a disaster soon! Now, get out!â Ezra ordered.
âEzra Swansons! Iâll remember this and make you regret it!â The door slammed shut as Eleanor left, marking the point of no return for both families.
