Chapter 1586 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Scarlet nodded. âSeamus has plenty of adopted sons and daughters. Losing one or two wonât bother him. Iâll handle it personally. If they put up a fight, weâre not afraid to go to war.â
She never accepted Anders to be called the God of War. If there were an opportunity, sheâd be more than willing to have a showdown to prove who was truly stronger.
âAnd those two big-shot families, the Welch and Forrest families, acting all high and mighty. They really need a reality check,â Dustin remarked casually.
âThatâs easy. Just dig up their familyâs dark history, expose them, and send them to prison. No need for elaborate plans,â she replied.
For the Spanner family, it was easy to take down the Welch and Forrest family. There was no need for intricate schemes. A simple command could make them pay for what they had done.
This stark difference between the great families and ancient houses showcased the hierarchy. Even though the great families were incredibly wealthy, their riches and status didnât compare to the true power and influence of the ancient houses.
That night, in a private hospital, Elena let out groans of pain. She would occasionally cough up blood.
Scarletâs kick had caused internal injuries, and despite treatments by doctors, Elena was barely clinging to life. However, a full recovery seemed unlikely in the short term.
âThat Scarlet bitch! She went too far! I hope she rots and turns into a complete monster!â Elena, grimacing in pain, couldnât help but let out her frustration.
âWatch what youâre saying.â Eleanor, sitting beside her, was startled and quickly motioned for Elena to lower her voice.
âElena, you canât speak like that. If Scarlet hears it, you might be in even bigger trouble.â
Scarlet, the Goddess of War from Dragonmarsh, and one of the Spanners â twins of the powerful Spanner family were not individuals they could afford to offend. Plus, considering her temper, retaliation was practically guaranteed.
âWhatâs there to fear? Thereâs no one else here. Canât I complain a bit?â Elena spoke with bitterness, though she instinctively lowered her voice.
âWatch your words; you never know who might be listening. Trouble often starts with loose tongues,â Eleanor warned.
âIf I canât curse Scarlet, can I at least curse Dustin?â
Through gritted teeth, Elena said, â That darn Dustin, heâs the reason Iâm in this mess. Once Iâm back on my feet, he will regret it!â
âElena, times have changed. Now, Dustin has Scarlet backing him up. Going against him is too risky.â Eleanor shook her head.
While Eleanor shared Elenaâs desire to destroy Dustin, considerations had to be taken into account. Scarletâs protection made it a dangerous move, and they lacked the courage to challenge her.
âBut we canât just sit back and take it, can we?â Elena expressed her reluctance to accept the situation.
âOf course not!â
Eleanor suddenly lowered her voice and added, âScott is Sir Moseyâs godson and Andersâ godbrother. Scottâs death wonât be left as it is.
âOnce we report the situation truthfully, the Moseys will take care of Dustin.â
âBut⦠Dustin has Scarlet protecting him, doesnât he?â Elena asked, feeling a bit puzzled.
âScarlet and Dustin are at most ordinary friends. I donât believe she would openly oppose the Moseys for a small fry like Dustin,â Eleanor asserted confidently.
In her view, Dustin, without power or influence, wasnât worth it for Scarlet to cause a major conflict.
ââThat makes sense.â
Upon hearing this, Elenaâs eyes lit up. Iâll give the Moseys a call. Iâll spice up the details a bit, and when they show up, Dustin is going to face the consequences!â
As she reached for her phone, ready to make a call, it suddenly vibrated. It was a call from her father. She quickly answered it, and a furious roar came through the phone.
âYou troublemaker! What have you done? Our familyâs in shambles because of you!â
