Chapter 1621 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âItâs you, Ms. Linsor. Iâve heard a lot about you.â After a momentary surprise, Dustin quickly recollected himself.
He continued, âMs. Linsor, as itâs quite late already, may I know the purpose of your visit and who sent you?â
He didnât know Grace personally, but he had seen her side profile in a painting, Enchanting Elegance. He was curious to find out the reason for her sudden visit.
âYouâll understand after you read the letter, Mr. Rhys.â Grace didnât explain. Instead, she took out a letter from her sleeve and gave it to Dustin with both hands.
âThanks.â Dustin nodded slightly and took the letter.
As he opened the letter to read it, the content stunned him and made his heart beat faster. The letter wasnât signed, and there was no greeting. Only a single sentence was written in the letter.
âDonovan Linsor, the Prince of Carsonne, currently living in the Scenic Monastery in Quandary Mountain, goes by Abbot Lumen.â
Dustin immediately knew who sent the letter when he saw the handwriting. He had no idea that this person was so effective. They actually completed the task within three days without any delay, as promised.
âPlease thank them on my behalf. I owe you one for todayâs favor. Just let me know if you need help in the future.â With the flick of a finger, the letter became dust and disappeared completely.
âBesides the letter, my aunt asked me to tell you something.â Graceâs angelic voice rang out again. âShe said thereâs been unrest in the palace recently. You mustnât continue your investigation. If you do, your life will be in danger.â
âThanks for the reminder. I know what Iâm doing.â Dustin nodded.
It was impossible for him to stop investigating. It had taken him too long to find the clues, and he was very close to uncovering the truth. He would never give up this easily.
âDustin Rhys, the past is in the past, and we can only live in the present. What happened ten years ago had already happened. Past incidents cannot be altered. This is fate,â Grace said.
âFate?â Dustin laughed and shook his head. âI never believed in fate. I only believe in myself. Regardless of the outcome, Iâd still give it a try.â
âIf this ending entails you losing your life and your loved ones, would you still choose to continue?â Grace retorted.
Dustin suddenly fell silent upon hearing his question. He wasnât afraid of dying, but he didnât want to risk the lives of those he cherished.
âDustin Rhys, Iâve read the oracle for you. The Scenic Monastery in Quandary Mountain is an obstacle you canât overcome. If you insist, it will result in many deaths, and you will pay a heavy price.â
Grace sounded very serious. She had never misread the oracle, not even once. She took the risk of visiting Dustin in hopes of resolving the catastrophe.
âIf you donât want me to go, why did you tell me the truth?â Dustin suddenly asked.
âIt has already been decided by fate, and I canât change the outcome. But, you can! All of this started because of you, and if you choose to let it go now, everything will be at peace. If not, the whole of Oakvale will be awash in blood, âGrace explained.
âSorry. I canât give up now.â Dustin shook his head after a few moments of silence.
He continued, âI have too much burden on me. My life was no longer mine a long time ago. Iâm so close to unveiling the truth now. Itâs impossible for me to give up.â
Grace sighed softly at his words. Evidently, she was still unable to convince him. She knew this would happen, but she wasnât convinced. She wanted to try and alter the course of fate.
Unfortunately, she couldnât do it. There were only a handful of people who could change the fate of the world. Dustin Rhys was one of them.
For the chosen one who bore a heavy burden, every choice made would determine the life and death of many others.
