Chapter 1721 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Matthias fixed his gaze intently on Dustin, his expression brimming with enthusiasm and anticipation.
He had only intended to obtain crucial information from Logan, but he didnât expect him to hold such significant influence that directly affected his fatherâs decision.
In other words, Logan played an equally important role in determining whether he could ascend to the throne. This realization brought him immense joy.
âYour unparalleled courage and outstanding military achievements make you most fitting for the throne. However, the final decision ultimately lies in His Majestyâs hands. I can only offer a suggestion,â Dustin explained.
âThatâs fine. Iâm satisfied as long as you give me your full support!â
Matthias exclaimed excitedly.
âWith your generosity and our shared camaraderie, I will definitely endorse you as the next King,â Dustin stated.
âExcellent! I can rest easy with your assurance.â
Matthias laughed. âLogan, from today onwards, you are my true brother. If you ever encounter trouble in the future, donât hesitate to seek me out!â
âThank you, Prince Matthias,â Dustin nodded appreciatively.
âGuard! Bring in the wine!â With a hearty shout, Matthias ordered wine to be sent in to celebrate.
âPrince Matthias, itâs getting late. Iâm truly tired. May I be excused to return and rest?â After three shots, Dustin promptly requested leave.
âOf course. Youâve had a tiring day. You should get some rest.â Matthia nodded with a smile. He then called out, âGuards! Escort Prince Logan back to his residence!â
âGoodbye, Prince Matthias.â After a bow, Dustin left the mansion with Grace.
He had to admit that their journey that night had been incredibly fruitful. While Matthiasâ treasures were slightly inferior to Tristanâs Celestial Eye, they made up for it in quantity.
The hundreds of treasures filled several large boxes, each item worth a fortune. With this wealth, Dustin now had more than enough resources for his various endeavors.
On their way back, Grace could hold back no longer and asked, âLogan, I canât believe you didnât turn down his offer.
âYou first accepted Tristanâs gift, and now youâve accepted Matthiasâ treasures as well. Do you think itâs appropriate to play both sides like that?
âWhat about it? Tristan and Matthias insisted on giving me those things. I canât just refuse their goodwill, donât you think?â Dustin replied with a yawn.
âYouâre supposed to align with whoever gives you an incentive. How are you going to choose now that youâve accepted gifts from both sides?â 1
âWhat does that have to do with me? The decision lies in your fatherâs hands. Iâm merely conveying the message.â Dustin shrugged.
âAre you saying youâre only after the perks but none of the responsibility?â Grace asked.
âYou canât put it that way. How can I be responsible with my lowly status? As for the so-called perks, just consider it my fee for conveying the message,â Dustin said lazily.
âWhat an expensive messenger fee.â Grace was left somewhat speechless. How did she not notice his shamelessness earlier?
âBut, think about it. In the current situation, I would only bring myself more trouble if I declined the gifts. To satisfy both your brothers, I can only accept them. That will also make things easier for me,â Dustin explained, struggling to keep his eyes open.
âArenât you afraid that theyâll find out, and in the end, youâll lose favor with both sides?â Grace asked meaningfully.
âWhat is there to be afraid of?â Dustin asked indifferently.
He added, âYour brothers are smart. No matter what I do, they would never confront me. Instead, theyâll think of me as a simpleton that is easily bought off and offer me more treasures the next time. After all, I still hold some value to them.â
