Chapter 1742 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Cinna, visibly injured from Dustinâs attack, stood before the masked man on the dragon throne.
âMr. Shaffer, are you hurt?â the masked man asked in a deep, raspy voice.
âJust a scratch wonât kill me,â Cinna replied.
He coughed up blood in between words.
âLooks more than a scratch. Take this medicine.â
The masked man waved his hand and a black tablet shot out.
âThanks.â
Cinna caught the tablet and swallowed it right away. This medicine from the Dragon Guard was exceptionally rare. It could heal serious injuries really fast, but only high-ranking members got to use it.
âMr. Rever,â Cinna began, but Reagan raised a hand and interrupted him.
âIâm now Reagan Judd. You can call me Mr. Judd or Sir Judd. The past is best left behind.â
âYes, Sir Judd.â
Cinna nodded respectfully.
âMr. Shaffer, how did the task I assigned you go?â Reagan inquired.
âI stabbed Dustinâs heart. He should be dead by now,â Cinna reported.
âExcellent!â
Reagan nodded approvingly.
âMr. Shaffer, youâve accomplished a great feat.â
âSir Judd, can you release my daughter now?â Cinna pleaded.
His loyalty to the Dragon Guard was due to manipulation. His beloved daughter was held captive by the Dragon Guard. Cinna was only allowed to meet her briefly every year.
Any act of defiance would not only cost him his life, but also bring torment upon his daughter. The Dragon Guardâs means of controlling spies were simple yet brutally effective.
In order to ensure his daughterâs safety, Cinna had no choice but to kill Dustin.
âMr. Shaffer, your daughter is safe and well cared for. No need to worry,â Reagan stated casually.
âSir Judd, you promised to let us go once this was done,â Cinna said while frowning.
âIâll keep my promise, but now isnât the time.â
Reaganâs voice became rough.
âYou took down Dustin, but the West Lucozian Monarchy remains. We wonât stop until it crumbles.â
âThe West Lucozian Monarchy is powerful. How can we easily defeat them?â Cinna asked puzzledly.
âIâve planned this for ten years,â Reagan calmly replied.
âRufus is dying, and he wonât last long. When Dustin is gone, chaos will follow. Iâll place a puppet in power and seize control.â
Reaganâs ambition was clear in his words. The Oakvale royalty was insignificant compared to the true threat of the West Lucozian Monarchy. Once he controlled it and the mighty Black Dragon Army, the world would be at his feet.
âSir Judd, must we be so ruthless?â
Cinnaâs expression was conflicted.
âRemember, back in the day-â
Before he could finish, Reagan cut in.
âAre you having second thoughts? To achieve greatness, one must be ruthless. Softness achieves nothing. Consider your future and that of your daughter. Some actions canât be undone.â
âI understand.â
Cinna reluctantly complied when at the mention of his daughter.
âSir Judd, what are your orders?â
Reagan raised his glass.
âEverythingâs set. We just need the final blow. Tomorrow, we head to West Lucozia. After all this planning, itâs time to close the trap.â
