Chapter 1768 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Dustin closed the door quietly, allowing Lucas and Lisa the time and space they needed for their heartfelt reunion. For most people, the aftermath of such an experience would take a considerable amount of time to erase the haunting memories.
âLogan, what are your thoughts on what happened today?â Grace asked, breaking the silence as she studied the man beside her.
âIâd eradicate every last scum like them if I could.â
His tone held an icy determination.
She said solemnly, âWest Lucozia is larger than Oakvale. What occurred today is likely not an isolated incident. In places beyond our view, there may be more people suffering oppression and hardship.â
She went on, âWith your current abilities, you can save one or two, maybe even ten or a hundred. But you canât save thousands or tens of thousands.â
âWhat do you mean?â
Dustin raised an eyebrow.
âI know you donât like authority and that you lean more toward the martial world, but some things require a high position. Vermin like those cannot be eradicated with personal strength alone,â Grace reminded.
âI understand your point, but Iâm not thinking about that right now.â
He shook his head.
âYou may not be thinking about it, but you should be prepared. West Lucozia is in chaos, and you need to shoulder this responsibility,â she said.
The Prince of West Lucozia was critically ill, and the various factions within were already in turmoil. With the impending demise of the prince, chaos would not only engulf West Lucozia but also the whole of Dragonmarsh. So, she hoped that Logan would ascend to the throne soon and suppress the petty factions.
âTalking about this now is useless. Our immediate concern is dealing with the remnants of the Dragon Guard,â Dustin said.
âThatâs true.â
Grace nodded and said nothing afterward. After a while, the door to the private room opened again. Lucas and Lisa walked out shoulder to shoulder. They stood directly before Dustin.
âThank you both for saving us. From now on, my sister and I are willing to be your humble servants to repay this great favor,â Lucas said.
He brought Lisa to express their gratitude.
âMr. Ashen, please stop.â
Dustin quickly said, âI greatly admire General Leoâs character. When faced with such a situation, I couldnât just stand by. Moreover, those wastrels deserved severe punishment. What I did was merely to uphold justice.â 2
âWhatever the case, you are our lifesavers. If you have any orders in the future, my sister and I will not hesitate to follow, even if it means going through hell,â Lucas said solemnly.
âAlright, enough of these ominous words.â
Dustin patted his shoulder and advised, âMr. Ashen, go back and pack up. Given what happened, for your safety, itâs best to leave Celestria immediately. Go somewhere else to lay low. After some time, Iâll arrange for your return.â
âThank you, sir.â
Lucas nodded to Dustin and Grace again. He then quickly left with Lisa.
Although he didnât know how Dustin had managed it, he was sure that he had offended Russo. With the Vern familyâs influence, retaliation would be severe. He was now a cripple and couldnât be of much help. So he could only take his sister somewhere safe for the time being.
âRusso and Aster are still in the trunk. How do you plan to deal with them?â Grace suddenly asked after watching the Ashen siblings leave.
âJust killing them would be too easy for them. For committing such heinous acts, I want them to regret living in this world,â Dustin spoke coldly.
A hint of menace flashed in his eyes.
Be it the Vern family or the Linden family, regardless of their power, whoever was involved in this matter would pay with their blood.
