Chapter 1787 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âAlright, Iâll set you up with a guardâs identity. But before you head in, youâll need to change your appearance,â Rodrigo finally conceded.
Though it came with some risk, it was better than doing nothing. At noon, inside West Lucozia Castle, news of Rufusâs death had been sealed off.
But many officials still gathered upon hearing it. Some came to offer condolences with heavy hearts, while others had different motives.
âThe Grand General of the Supreme State has arrived!â
âThe Grand General of the Sentinel has arrived!â
Two shouts echoed from the entrance. And two middle-aged men in combat gear, each leading a troop of soldiers with menacing swords at their waists, swaggered in. These soldiers looked fierce and had an evil glint in their eyes.
Everett Caide and Shane Gilby, holding the ranks of Grand General of the Supreme State and Grand General of the Sentinel, respectively, entered grandiosity.
âGenerals, you must disarm before entering the castle,â a castle guard told Everett and Shane, bowing respectfully.
âHumph! Iâve never taken off my combat gear when going out. Get lost!â Everett sneered.
âGeneral Caide, itâs a rule of the castle. Please comply,â the castle guard insisted.
âRule? Screw your rules!â He slapped the guardâs face, scoffing, âWho do you think you are? Daring to use rules to suppress me? Are you tired of living?â
âGeneral Caide, I am just following orders.â the castle guard stood firm.
âQuit the damn nonsense. Get out of my way, or Iâll chop off your head!â Everett drew his sword, holding it at the guardâs neck, looking extremely domineering.
âEven if you chop off my head, you still have to follow the rules.â The castle guard remained unyielding.
âYou damn dog! I bet you wonât give up until you see the gallows!â Everett was enraged. He raised his sword and slashed at the guardâs arm.
âStop!â
A sharp rebuke echoed, and Eloise, dressed in simple black attire, accompanied by Jaxon and others, rushed over.
âEverett! How dare you draw your sword in the castle? Have you no respect for the castle rules?â Eloise rebuked angrily.
âYour Highness.â Everett quickly sheathed his sword, bowing slightly, and then forced a smile.
âYour Highness, I was just joking. How could I actually intend harm?â
âJoking?â She snorted, âIf I had arrived a moment later, that guardâs arm might already be severed!â
âYour Highness, I was just teasing this young fellow. I had no intention of hurting him.â Everett grinned insincerely.
âYeah, Your Highness, Everett here has a peculiar temperament. Please donât take it to heart,â Shane, who had been watching from the sidelines, finally spoke up.
âGeneral Gilby is here too.â
Eloise glanced around, coldly saying, Two generals, clad in combat gear, armed with swords, brazenly broke into the castle. Are you planning a rebellion?â
With this statement, Everett and Shaneâs expressions instantly changed.
