Chapter 1789 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Shane exclaimed loudly as he fell to his knees, bowing. His eyes welled with tears, looking like he was in pain at just having lost a loved one.
Although it was an act, it was much more convincing than Everettâs.
âGeneral Rhys of the Iron Stallion Cavalry has arrived!â Right then, they heard a loud announcement from the door.
Following closely, a heroic-looking, middle-aged man walked in imposingly. He carried various weapons with him and was clad in golden armor.
This person was none other than the Iron Stallion Cavalryâs first-ranking Grand General-Julius Rhys!
Julius Rhys was not only the Grand General of the Iron Stallion Cavalry but also Rufusâ cousin.
From a young age, he excelled in both the literary and martial arts, displaying exceptional talent in various aspects.
If not for Rufusâ existence, he would have been the Rhys familyâs most outstanding genius.
Unfortunately, in the face of an unparalleled hero like Rufus, even the most formidable talents would pale in comparison.
âGreetings, Grand General Rhys!â
Upon seeing Julius, both Everett and Shane dropped their affected demeanor and bowed respectfully.
Both of them held influential positions due to Juliusâ support and were his most trusted generals. Similar to the dynamics between Rufus and Jaxon, they went through triumphs and challenges together.
âRufus!â Julius ignored his two trusted aides and dropped to his knees as soon as he entered the funeral hall. With reddened eyes and trembling lips, his expression was a mix of sorrow and resentment.
âHow could this happen? How could Rufus have died? Who did this?â Julius roared in anger.
âIt was the remnants of the Dragon Guard. They sent assassins to infiltrate the castle and assassinated Rufus last night.â Eloiseâs face showed a mix of emotions.
âThe Dragon Guard?â
Julius gritted his teeth in anger and roared, âGuards! Gather all the troops and search the entire city. We must capture the killers and bring them to justice!â
âWait!â Eloise stopped him.
âJulius, I know youâre deeply saddened, but we canât afford to escalate things right now.â
âMy brother is already dead! Thereâs no more reason to be afraid! The killers must pay for what they have done!â Julius exclaimed in anger.
âIt is because Rufus has passed away that we need to remain calm!â
Eloiseâs expression was grave. âThe situation within West Lucozia is not stable yet. Once news of Rufusâ death spreads out, it will inevitably have a huge impact and potentially even trigger a war.
âWest Lucozia will be plunged into chaos by then.â
âThen what should we do? We canât just let the killer go free, can we?â Julius was indignant.
âIâve already sent Albert to investigate.
You donât need to worry about it.â
Eloise shook her head and continued, â You command half of West Lucoziaâs military forces as the Grand General of the Iron Stallion Cavalry.
âWhat we need from you now is to stop the internal strife and stabilize the situation.â
âEloise! The Black Dragon Army only obeys Rufusâ orders. Even though I am the Grand General in title, I wonât be able to mobilize the Black Dragon Army without the military insignia.
âIt might be difficult for me to deal with any trouble that arises.â Julius looked troubled.
âThatâs right, Your Highness. I think it would be better to entrust the insignia to Grand General Rhys. It would ensure the security of the castle,â Shane echoed.
âIndeed. It is said that a nation cannot be without a leader for a day, and an army cannot be without a commander for a day.
âNow that His Highness has departed, only Grand General Rhys is fit to take on the role of Grand Marshal!â Everett stated in a meaningful tone.
Watching the pair, it suddenly dawned on Eloise that they came not to offer their condolences but to seize power!
