Chapter 1817 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Just when Ignatius got ready to speak, he pointed to a direction while narrowing his eyes and shouted in surprise, âLook! What is that?â
The others looked in the direction he was pointing. They saw a dark object in the sky heading straight down, and it crashed in the middle of their troops.
The explosion was deafening, and everything quaked as dust rose. There was a gigantic wave of energy spreading outward from the point of explosion like tsunami waves.
The energy wave left a trail of destruction and painful moans wherever it passed. This attack killed and wounded at least a few hundred soldiers.
âThe fuck! What the hell was that?â Draven squinted his eyes. He couldnât see what attacked them due to the thick clouds of dust.
âCould it be a meteorite?â Atticus sounded a little confused.
âA shooting star? How could there be such a coincidence?â Mortimer refused to believe it.
âI can see it clearly now! Itâs a person!â Ignatius had good vision and pointed at where the object fell. Then, he shouted, âHeâs charging toward us!â
As soon as he said that, a dark shadow emerged from the clouds of dust and was running toward the Four Sovereigns.
The dark shadow held a black sword and was moving very fast. He was unstoppable and was undeterred by the obstacles on the way.
The fully armored soldiers were nothing to him as he defeated them easily. There were suddenly a lot of casualties.
âAn assassin! Quick! Stop him!â Ignatius came to his senses quickly and gathered the royal guards as he charged toward the shadow.
âHmm! Heâs only one, and we have thousands of soldiers to protect us! He might be able to fly, but heâll never get to us with the number of soldiers around us!â Draven said haughtily with a cold look.
Even though the most effective way to defeat an enemy was to kill the leader, it was actually the most difficult thing to achieve.
It could only be achieved through covert means. It was a suicidal act for this lone assassin to attack the leader of the enemy so openly.
They all had a team of royal guards to protect them. Even if there was a real threat, they could escape unscathed under the protection of the royal guards. They didnât have to fear for their lives.
âDraven! Things are not looking up. That assassin is too powerful. The common soldiers couldnât take him on, âIgnatius said with a frown.
He had very good eyes. Hence, he was able to see that the assassin was killing everyone blocking his way.
âWhy are you flustered? Itâs just an assassin. I doubt he could make any difference.â Dravenâs attitude remained haughty.
He was one of the four esteemed sovereigns. He mustnât show fear before an assassin.
âDraven! No, the assassin is getting too close. Heâs just a few feet away from us. We must retreat to safety!â Ignatius shouted urgently.
âWellâ¦â Draven frowned slightly and looked displeased. He had thought that the assassin would never get this far.
He had no idea that the assassin could actually penetrate this deep. The assassin had immense potential!
The problem was that he had just claimed the assassin wouldnât get far. If he retreated now, wouldnât it be a blow to his ego? Itâd be very embarrassing for him if this got out.
âFuck it! Whatever, retreat!â Ignatius decided to give the order to back down when Draven couldnât make up his mind.
He immediately got ready to leave with the royal guards. They were so close to success tonight! Itâd be the joke of the nation if they were killed by an assassin!
