Chapter 1896 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Reagan was dead, and the Dragon Guardâs base lay in ruins. The entire organization had been eradicated, leaving only the scattered remnants with minimal threat potential.
Despite this, Dustin remained vigilant, having issued pre-emptive orders. Anyone linked to the Dragon Guard was now on his wanted list. Surrendering offered an opportunity for leniency, while resistance meant facing a grim fate.
Adam stepped forward and kicked Reaganâs lifeless body. Upon confirming Reaganâs demise, Adam smiled. âHey, Bro, we finally got rid of this trouble. Congratulations!â
âThanks to your 200 thousand White Tiger Army troops, which effectively blocked Reaganâs escape.
âWithout that, this guy might have had a shot at survival.â Dustin conveyed his appreciation for the support.
Ending Reaganâs life had been daunting, and Dustin staked his own life. Still, Dustin was fortunate that he ultimately succeeded.
âI didnât contribute significantly. If you feel grateful, express your thanks to Her Royal Highness,â Adam remarked, casting a suggestive smile over his shoulder.
He added, âShe was visibly anxious and actively involved on your behalf. It seemed she was pushing us as if participating in a marathon.â
âWhat are you muttering about, Adam? âGrace approached, giving him a stern look.
âNo, nothing at all. Simply commending your wisdom and beauty, âAdam replied with a flattering smile.
âUgh, flattery wonât get you anywhere! âGrace rolled her eyes.
âThank you, Your Royal Highness,â Dustin said, bowing in acknowledgment.
âRelax, no need for formality. We committed to supporting you, and weâll follow through,â Grace said calmly.
She continued, âAfter all, Reagan was a mutual enemy. Helping you is akin to aiding my own cause, ultimately contributing to the greater good.â
âYour sense of justice, Your Royal Highness, is truly admirable,â Dustin remarked with a smile.
âEnough with the compliments. Although Reagan is dead, there are still matters to attend to, like Cinnaâ¦â She changed the topic.
âCinna?â Dustin raised an eyebrow.â My people should have him surrounded. If the plan unfolds smoothly, we ought to capture him.â
âCinna could prove valuable concerning our objectives.â Grace hinted. She went on, âWith Reagan no longer in the picture and the Dragon Guard destroyed, there are still some affiliated forces.
âIf we manage to bring these forces under control, it will be beneficial in the future.â
âSo, youâre suggesting using Cinna as a pawn to control the affiliated forces of the Dragon Guard, essentially having him work for me?â Dustin quickly grasped the idea.
âExactly.â She nodded.
She added, âAfter the Dragon Guard falls, various forces in Dragonmarsh will be eyeing their territory. Dominant factions and opportunistic entities may resort to aggressive takeovers.
âItâs wiser to safeguard our interests rather than allowing others to capitalize on them.â
âYou make a valid point, but I donât trust Cinna,â Dustin said nonchalantly.
In his view, anyone who had been unfaithful to him remained untrustworthy. Since Cinna betrayed Dustin, their relationship had been marked by inevitable enmity.
Regardless of its reasons, the betrayal completely severed all ties between them.
âYou donât need to place your trust in Cinna. You can just simply manipulate him,â Grace said.
She added, âCinna is married with a daughter and has been controlled by Reagan.
âWith Reagan out of the picture, Cinnaâs family is now in your hands. He is now at your disposal, so manipulate him as you see fit.â
Dustin calmly asserted, âHis family should be spared from harm. While I may not claim to be a saint, I refuse to engage in such reprehensible actions.
âOtherwise, how would I differ from those individuals in the Dragon Guard?â
âIâm merely putting forth an idea. Itâs entirely your decision how you choose to address it,â Grace responded with a subtle smile, opting not to delve deeper into the matter.
She was not only suggesting but also subtly assessed Dustinâs principles. To foster future collaboration, she needed to grasp his underlying core values. âBro, your men are here.â
