Chapter 1979 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
No one knew that the lake would be filled with water again when morning came and the palatial building was completely hidden beneath.
Sophia didnât dive into the lake as she couldnât determine what was in the water.
âAre you sure that there is treasure hidden at the bottom of the lake?â Aidan asked again.
âItâs true! I swear!â Sophia appeared very certain.
âAlright, weâll wait here then. Weâll see what is really at the bottom of the lake tonight.â Aidan nodded.
âMr. Ridge, why do we have to wait till nightfall? Isnât it better to just explore the lake now?â Garrett suggested.
Everyone knew that the monsters were most active at night. It might appear quiet and peaceful now, however, there might be many different monsters appearing by the lake at night. Itâd be dangerous then.
âThe lake is deep and we canât see the bottom. If you go in now, you canât even see where youâre going. How are you going to search for the treasure?â Aidan commented casually.
âMr. Ridge, to be honest, my team members are very experienced and skilled. They are especially skilled divers. Why donât we check out whatâs below first?â Garrett sounded quite proud.
The members of the Black Scorpion Squad might not be the best in terms of combat skills, but they were all professionals in survival skills.
If not, Grace would not have hired them with a handsome sum to lead this expedition.
âOh, really?â
Aidan raised his eyebrows slightly and said with a laugh, âIf your team members could find out where the treasure is located, I can guarantee that youâll get more than your fair share of the treasure!â
âThank you, Mr. Ridge!â Garrett was happy to hear that. That was what he wanted to hear.
His team was nothing compared to the elite martial arts sects. If he didnât work harder, how would he get a share of the treasure?
âCaptain Wilder, in my opinion, we should wait longer,â Grace suddenly spoke up.
âNo one knows whatâs hidden at the bottom of this lake. I think itâs really risky if you go into the lake without any preparation.â
On land, they still had a chance to escape if they ran into any monsters. However, it was certain death if they ran into any danger in the lake.
âPlease donât worry, Ms. Linsor. All of my team members have at least five years of diving experience. They know very well how to conduct themselves underwater.
âI believe that theyâd be able to handle any situation that arises in the water.â Garrett sounded very confident.
He had an ulterior motive for insisting. If they were to split the treasure normally, the Black Scorpion Squad wouldnât get anything based on their status in the group.
If they explored the lake before anyone else did, they could hide some treasure for themselves. The Black Scorpion Squad would then be the biggest winner at the end of the expedition.
âIf Captain Wilder feels confident about this, please go ahead,â Sophia said with an ambiguous smile.
âDozer! Bring two people with you to explore the lake. Report back immediately if you see anything weird. âGarrett turned back and shot the bald, burly man a look.
The man, Dozer, nodded and understood what Garrett meant.
âYou two, come with me!â Dozer got two members from the Black Scorpion Squad and walked to the lake right away.
As they reached the shore, the three of them took off their clothes, put on their goggles, and dove into the lake with their knives between their teeth. They completely disappeared from sight.
