Chapter 2220 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âElder Mason, what do you think?â Hank turned to Garrett as the tension eased.
âIf the Hall of Gods is extending such sincerity, it would be impolite of us to refuse,â Garrett replied with a smile.
With all these rare treasures being presented, they couldnât possibly refuse such an offer. They knew completing the mission would set them up for a comfortable retirement.
Though risky, the potential rewards made it a gamble worth taking. Besides, they would be an unstoppable force with the Cosmos Demons on their side.
After all, they never backed down from danger, even when faced with the toughest challenges.
âElder Mason, your decisiveness is admirable.â Hank smiled and turned to Willard. âMr. Lent, what about you?â
âAs long as thereâs good booze, then weâve got a deal,â Willard slurred with drunken cheer.
âPerfect! Then, itâs settled.â Hank perked up with a bright smile.
âWait! Iâve got a question.â Dustin, who had been observing quietly, spoke up.
âOh? Whatâs on your mind?â Hank raised a curious eyebrow.
He brought Dustin on board due to his clean record and remarkable skills.
After seeing Dustin defeat Marco previously, Hank suspected him to be a grandmaster martial artist. Someone so young and skilled was definitely worth recruiting.
âMr. Styles, youâve tasked us with finding treasure. But weâre in the dark about what exactly weâre after. Can you give us some insight? It would ease our minds,â Dustin said calmly.
The others nodded in agreement. Their initial excitement had blinded them to this crucial detail.
The meticulous planning of the Hall of Gods raised questions about the purpose behind venturing into the forbidden grounds of the Sacred Wrym Summit.
âI must admit that even Iâm unsure of what treasure weâre seeking,â Hank confessed and shook his head.
âWhat? Youâre clueless, too?â Garrett was shocked by the revelation.
Tasking them to search for treasure without knowing what they were looking for seemed like a foolâs errand.
âI must confess that the God King organized this treasure hunt. Iâm simply following orders, and the details are unclear to me.â Hank shrugged helplessly.
âWhat? The God King is involved?â
âGoodness! Do we really need all this grandeur?â
âIt seems the Hall of Gods is dead set on this mission!â
The martial artists exchanged murmurs and were astonished by the revelation.
Four God Kings governed the Hall of Gods. Each of them commanded immense power, much like the Celestial Allianceâs guildmaster.
Their direct involvement in the quest for the treasure hinted at its profound significance.
âMr. Styles, this mission wonât be a walk in the park.â Garrett frowned and hesitated again.
The God Kingâs involvement underscored the seriousness of the situation. In the presence of a figure of such stature, they were merely insignificant.
Garrett doubted if they were being treated merely as expendable bait.
âElder Mason, donât worry,â Hank assured him upon sensing his concern.
He smiled and added, âWhile the God King has devised the plan, he wonât be directly involved. Heâs just keeping an eye on things from the sidelines.
âWith him watching over everything, Iâm sure the plan will work out fine. As for why he hasnât disclosed everything, itâs likely to maintain secrecy and prevent leaks.
âSo, no need to worry too much. Iâll be right there with you on the mission. If anything goes south, Iâll step in and make sure youâre all safe.â
Garrett and the others breathed a collective sigh of relief at Hankâs reassurance. It seemed their concerns had been unnecessary, given Hankâs sincerity.
âWith your reassurance, weâre all in. Just give us the word when you need our help later.â Garrett patted his chest.
âExactly! Weâve accepted the Hall of Godsâ payment, so weâll do our best to fulfill our end of the deal!â
âEven if it means going all out, weâre committed to uncovering that treasure for the Hall of Gods!â
The martial artists voiced their agreement. They were prepared to confront whatever challenges awaited them.
âYouâre all honorable heroes, and I have full faith in each of you.â Hank smiled before turning to Dustin. âAny lingering doubts or questions? Feel free to speak up.â
Dustin seized the opportunity and said, âNow that you mention it, I do have a question.â
âHuh?â Hankâs expression tensed. His words had been mere pleasantries, but he was caught off guard when Dustin took them to heart.
âHey, kid! Whatâs with all this nonsense?â Garrett slammed his hand on the table and was visibly annoyed.
âHmph! We havenât even started yet, and youâre already causing a fuss. You really donât know when to quit, do you?
The other martial artists sneered, and their faces twisted with disdain.
âDonât worry. If you have any questions, donât hesitate to ask. Iâll try my best to answer all your doubts,â Hank said with a faint smile. He tried to maintain a polite demeanor.
âYou mentioned earlier that the God King of the Hall of Gods has arrived. Iâm curious, which God King is it this time?â Dustin asked.
The Hall of Gods had already lost one God King. So, who would dare to come to Sacred Wrym Summit now?
