Chapter 24 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
I know! Mr. Nolan must have helped us out!â Lyra seemed to have thought of something. Suddenly, she said, âI called him after calling the police just earlier. He must have sent President Anderson here.â
âChris Nolan?â Dahlia frowned, feeling doubtful. âThatâs right. Mr. Nolan is the only person who would help us and has the power to ask President Anderson for help!â Lyra analyzed, convinced that she was correct.
âWell, that makes sense.â Dahlia agreed. As they were talking, a red Ferrari stopped by the road. The door opened, and Chris, wearing a set of bright clothes, came down hurriedly.
âDahlia! Are you okay? I came here immediately after receiving the call!â Chris seemed worried.
âMr. Nolan, thanks for your help. Otherwise, Ms. Nicholson would be in danger.â Lyra hurriedly thanked Chris.
âHelp?â Chris was stunned. He almost couldnât snap back to his senses. âYes! Mr. Anderson had already come just now. He came to rescue Ms. Nicholson.â Lyra smiled.
âHuh?â Chris was even more shocked.
âMr. Nolan, I didnât expect you to be able to get President Andersonâs help. You are amazing. Iâm impressed!â Lyra began to flatter him.
The corners of Chrisâ mouth twitched. He seemed confused. Hunter Anderson was a big shot, and Chris was in no position to ask for his help. Actually, Chris didnât even have the right to meet him, much less ask for his help. Although he wasnât sure what happened, Dahlia and Lyra had misunderstood him. Since things had already played out, he decided to continue with the flow. In any case, he wouldnât lose out on anything.
âAhem, well⦠I was just trying. I didnât expect Mr. Anderson to be so kind.â Chris fixed his tie and accepted the praise.
Hearing that, Dustin couldnât help laughing. This guy was so thickâ skinned. Wasnât he afraid the ladies would find out the truth?
âDustin! How dare you laugh?â Lyra cried, annoyed. âLook at Mr. Nolan. He solved everything easily, but what about you? You only know how to be violent, and you nearly put Ms. Nicholson in danger!â
âWhy did he only show up now if he is so amazing?â Dustin responded calmly.
âAlthough he was late, he got Mr. Andersonâs help. Otherwise, do you think you can walk out of Sir Spannerâs territory alive?â Lyra replied angrily.
âYouâre the only one who thinks that way. I donât think Chris saved me,â Dustin responded calmly.
âHey! Why are you so ungrateful? Mr. Nolan saved you. Not only did you not thank him, but youâre also sprouting nonsense here. How shameless!â Lyra was displeased.
âForget it, he doesnât knowhow to appreciate otherâs help. Letâs not lower our standards and argue with him.â Chris feigned generosity.
âDid you see that? This is what we call grace!â Lyra glared at Dustin. âDustin, Mr. Nolan saved us, after all. I think it wonât hurt for you to thank him.â
Dahlia seemed dissatisfied too. âGo ahead and thank him if you want. Itâs none of my business.â Dustin couldnât care less.
âWhy are you acting this way?â Dahlia frowned minutely. He didnât even thank Chris for saving them earlier. How could he be so petty? a âIâm always like that. This isnât the first time youâve met me.âThen, Dustin continued relentlessly, âAlso, please donât be a busybody and barge into Trevorâs territory next time. You are so dumb!â
âIâm dumb? I did it to save you!â Dahlia was getting angry.
âSave me? Who asked you to save me?â Dustin raised his voice. âHow are we even related? Do I need your help? Stop being a busybody. You almost killed yourself, yet youâre trying to act tough. You asked for it.â
Hearing his words, Dahlia was stunned. She couldnât believe Dustin would say such a thing.
