Chapter 275 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
At the drill ground of a military base. Dustin had been chained to a pillar by several thick chains made of darksteel, which was extremely malleable yet also durable. The blazing sun shone down on him, and he was surrounded by a troop of armed forces. They scrutinized his every action warily.
Dustin didnât seem bothered by it. He merely allowed himself to remain chained, looking pokerâfaced. His calmness surprised the soldiersâany ordinary person wouldâve peed their pants long ago. It seemed there was something special about him.
âSo, youâre Dustin Rhys?â At this moment, a man in a deputy generalâs uniform walked over with a troop of soldiers behind him. He had a beer belly and a round face.
âDonât tell me you captured me without even knowing who I am,â Dustin said coolly.
âCut the crap! Answer the generalâs question!â one of the military officers roared.
âFine. Yes, Iâm Dustin Rhys.â
âGood, good. The man nodded. âSince we didnât get the wrong guy, letâs start by giving him 50 military whips. Itâll also act as a deterrent to others like him.â
The military officers with him subconsciously winced at his words. Military whips werenât the same as normal whipsâan ordinary person would faint from three to five military whips; ten were enough to make one feel like one had a foot in the grave. If one were fortunate enough to survive 20 whips, theyâd probably have to spend the rest of their life in a wheelchair. As for 50 whips. No one had survived it thus far. It looked like he was out for Dustinâs life!
âHold on,â Dustin suddenly said. âYouâre a
whip me without asking a single question?â
general, arenât you? Donât you think itâs a little against protocol to
The roundâfaced man gave him an arrogant look. âMy words are the only protocol to follow hereâIâm the one who calls the shots over your life and death, you peasant. You donât even have the right to say no.â
âI suppose that means youâre gonna abuse your power.â Dustin narrowed his eyes.
âSo what if I am? I have hundreds of guns aimed at you. Do you think you stand a chance against them?â The roundâfaced man scoffed.
âQuality over quantity. Having that many guns doesnât actually mean anything.â Dustin shook his head.
The roundâfaced man sneered. âPutting up a brave front, are we? Youâll regret this when youâre on the brink of death! Whip him!â He waved a hand.
Before long, a burly man walked over with a steel whip in hand. Salt water dripped from itâit would make the wounds burn even more.
âTâll ask you one last time before you do anything elseâwho sent you here?â Dustin asked.
âI did!â Someone walked out from behind the roundâfaced man and lowered her hood. It was Jade. âI bet you didnât expect to end up in my hands, Rhys!â She sneered, âYou were so obnoxious last night, but so what? Youâre nothing but my prisoner now!â

Chapter 275
âWhat happened last night was between me and the Hummer family. Iâd advise you to stay out of it,â Dustin
said coolly.
Jade snorted. âJoshuaâs my fiancé: I want nothing more than to skin you alive for crippling him!â
âJoshua deserved what he got. You shouldnât do anything to jeopardize yourself.â
Jade laughed derisively. âI donât think you understand your predicament. Your life and death are in my hands- how dare you threaten me!â
âBelieve what you may. I just hope you donât regret this.â Dustin didnât want to waste his breath.
âKeep this up. Iâd like to see whether youâll still be this arrogant when youâre bruised and battered!â Jade looked at him like he was already dead to her.
âAlright, thatâs enough talking. Jade, donât waste your breath on him. Letâs just sit and watch the show.â The roundâfaced man waved a hand. Soon, some military officers brought a table and two chairs over. The round- faced man gestured for them to be placed in the shade. Then, he and Jade sat down. âWell, what are you waiting for? Whip him with all youâve got!â
With that, the burly man got to work and started whipping.
