Chapter 277 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âWhat?â The roundâfaced man stared at Dustin, who was cool as a cucumber, in shock. He knew very well how much the steel whip could withstand and how much pain it could cause. Not even the strongest of men could take more than ten whips in one go, yet Dustin looked perfectly fine after enduring more than that. In fact, heâd made three whips shatter. What the hell was going on? âBrat, what sort of sorcery do you have going on?â he snarled.
âLook, cut the crap and do what you need to.â Dustin yawned. His nonchalance made the roundâfaced manâs blood boil.
âFucking hell. Iâd like to see you survive this!â The roundâfaced man swiped his subordinateâs sword and swung it at Dustin. There were two loud clangs as the blade came into contact with Dustinâs body twice; he was fine, but the blade became chipped.
âIs that is that an Adamantine Shield?â Jadeâs eyes widened. As a member of the martial world, she
immediately realized what was up. The fact that Dustin could make himself impermeable to weapons proved that heâd learned the art of defense. However, it would take a huge toll on oneâs internal energy. Most martial artists wouldnât be able to keep it up for long. âRegular weapons wonât do anything to him. We have to bring in a pro.â Jade said.
âHmph! Iâll admit this brat isnât your runâofâtheâ mill martial artist; itâs no wonder you guys had problems dealing with him. Itâs too bad heâs up against me, though!â The roundâfaced man narrowed his eyes.
âDo you have any way of dealing with him?â Jade asked tentatively.
âWe soldiers are only good at taking down enemy forces; torture devices arenât our forte. It doesnât matter, though. I know someone in the Ministry of Penalties thatâs an expert in this. Once heâs here, this brat will beg for death!â The roundâfaced man bared his teeth in a savage grin.
âOh? And who is this expert?â Jadeâs eyes lit up.
âOne of the Ministry of Penaltiesâ two most powerful executioners, Bloodbeast!â
âWait, you know him?â Jade gasped. She wasnât a member of the authorities but had still heard of Bloodbeast.
Rumor had it that he murdered people without blinking an eye and loved drinking human blood. Throughout his career with the Ministry of Penalties, hundreds, if not thousands, of people had died at his hands. Each and every one of them had died horrible deaths after being subject to inhumane torture: anyone who found themselves in his hands truly wished for death. That was why most criminals chose to take their lives before landing in Bloodbeastâs handsâat least their deaths would be swift and painless.
âTorturing others is Bloodbeastâs favorite pastime, and heâs taken a particular liking for tormenting powerful martial artists because of how hard they are to kill. Someone like this brat is right up his alley!â The round- faced manâs eyes gleamed menacingly.
âThis brat wonât stand a chance against Bloodbeast, no matter how impermeable he is! Provided you can get Bloodbeast to agree to this, of course.â Jade sneered. She wasnât asking for muchâall she wanted was for Dustin to be subject to the most inhumane torture possible.
âIâll contact him right now.â The roundâ faced man pulled out his phone and started punching in a number.
âEnjoy your final moments of peace, Rhys! Once Bloodbeast is here, youâll be done for!â Jade looked at Dustin contemptuously. Heâd talked about karma biting one in the ass, hadnât he? She wanted him to have a taste of his own medicine!
Dustin couldnât even be bothered to spare a glance. He shut his eyes, taking the chance to rest them.
âJade, itâs far too hot, standing in the sun. Letâs go sit in the shade. The roundâfaced man led Jade over to the table after hanging up.
After a moment. Dustin suddenly said. âHey, Iâm hungry. Is there anything to eat?â
âHungry, are you? Someone get him some refreshments!â The roundâfaced man smirked. Soon, a soldier
placed some food and drinks by Dustinâs feet.
âHow am I supposed to eat when Iâm bound like this? Can you loosen them?â Dustin asked coolly.
The roundâfaced man burst into derisive laughter. âGiving you some sustenance is the extent of my generosity; itâs not my problem if you canât reach it. Since youâre so powerful, why donât you try breaking free of the chains?â
