Chapter 308 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Abby humphed. âStop pretending when you donât know anything â She rolled her eyes. âWeâll know whoâs better soon enough!â
âEven if Dustin doesnât win against Tatum, heâs still a rare genius, so we should still respect him,â the man from earlier said.
âYouâre right. Just getting Tatum to challenge him to a duel is a feat of its own. Otherwise, Boulderthorn wouldnât have wasted so much energy on this.â
âI heard that heâs only around twenty. Itâs extremely rare to see someone that age reach divinity. Heâs practically a genius!â
âEven if he doesnât win against Tatum, it will be an honorable defeat.â
Everyone began to chip in their opinions. Although they were sure Dustin would lose to Tatum, they still acknowledged the formerâs talents and skills
âI heard that Dustin doesnât have a quild and is self-taught Heâs bound to shine if he enters Ironshade!â one said
Another chuckled. âIronshade only has around a hundred disciples. A talent like him would be
wasted thereâ
Someone else agreed, âIn terms of size and growth, Highfield is definitely better. Iâm sure Dustin. wouldnât refuse my offer.â
âHey, are you guys forgetting about Steel Legion?â Abby shouted unhappily. âMy guild is obviously the best If Dustin actually wants to pick a guild, heâd clearly choose us!â
Dustin was puzzled. He couldnât figure out where Abby got her confidence from How could she be so sure when she didnât even know who he was yet? Worse, Ralph seemed to think the same, judging from his smug expression.
Just as they were talking, a group of Boulderthorn disciples approached them. Leading them were Brody and Oliver Williams.
âMy, my. If it isnât Max.â Brody sneered when he spotted Maximus. âWhatâs a useless man like you. doing here?â
âThatâs none of your businessâ Maximus retorted coldly.
âWeâre peers, Max. Even though youâve lost all your powers, I wonât push you away. For Caitlynâs sake, I can help you return to being my fatherâs disciple if you beg me.â Brody sniggered, wrapping an arm around the delicate woman beside him.
Maximusâ face immediately darkened when he saw who it was. Caitlyn Lawler, his fiancée!
Previously, she had been with his mentor, yet here she was, in Brodyâs embrace.
âOh, right. I forgot to tell you that Caitlyn has agreed to marry me. Sheâs mine from now on. I hope you donât mind.â Brody mocked.
âWhat? Maximusâ eyes widened, his hands clenched into fists. âIs that true, Caitlyn?â
âDonât blame me, Max. Iâm just a weak woman. I need someone to protect me. Now that youâve lost all your powers, I can only rely on Brody,â Caitlyn answered frankly.
âWhy? WHY?â Maximusâ eyes had turned bloodshot. âYou said youâd wait for me, and weâd be together forever, so why would you marry him?â
âAre you an idiot, Max?â Caitlyn rolled her eyes. âYou donât think that I truly like you, do you? What I like is power. Power to control others. I only agreed to marry you back then because you were the most talented disciple of us all. Look at you now. Besides getting kicked out, youâve also lost all your powers. Without any power, what makes you think that youâre worthy of being with me? Was I supposed to suffer with you? Donât be foolish!â
