Chapter 400 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Dustin felt the softness in his arms and the familiar scent tingling his nose. He broke into a smile. He could tell from her uncontrolled crying that she cared greatly about him.
âOkay, now. Stop crying. Your tears are wetting this new shirt I bought two days ago.â After some hugging, Dustin finally opened his mouth.
âWhatâs the big deal? Iâll just pay for the shirt.â She let go of him and didnât forget to give him a pinch in the waist, sending him grimacing in pain. âAnd what was that just now? Why didnât you escape sooner?â she confronted him.
âHeâs a ticking time bombâno pun intended. Of course, I had to subdue him before I left,â he answered matterâofâfactly.
âI know youâre great at fighting, but you have to care about your safety. He had bombs strapped on his body. What if he got you killed in an explosion?â she protested.
He grinned and replied, âBut Iâm all well.â
âItâs all because of your dumb luck. Youâd better not push your luck the next time!â she warned him.
âOkay. Iâll act like a loser and think of my safety first.â He nodded furiously.
âThatâs more like it!â She nodded with satisfaction. It was all great being a glorious hero, but that was also how people got themselves killed in a slipâup. Sheâd rather Dustin stay a loser.
âDustin Rhys, do you have nine lives? Why werenât you dead from that huge explosion?â James and Florence cautiously made their way up to the rubble.
âI need to thank my lucky stars for surviving the bombing,â Dustin dropped a casual remark.
âOh my god! My villa!â Florence suddenly started howling at the sight of the rubble when she realized the extent of the damage done. âOh, Edwin Hummer, you asshole! Iâm fine with him wanting to die. How could he ruin my villa while he was at it? This is unforgivable!â
âMom, this all happened because of Dustin. I think you can ask him for compensation.â James was thinking fast and came up with an idea.
âThatâs right!â Florence nodded and grabbed Dustin by the sleeve. âDustin Rhys, itâs all your fault! You need to pay up for ruining my villa!â
âMom, a villa is nothing compared to a life. Dustin has saved us. Do you think itâs fair to ask him. for compensation?â Dahlia frowned at her mother.
âWhy is that unfair? He got us into this trouble. Donât you ever think of leaving if you donât pay up!â Florence started acting like a Karen.
âAlright, then. How much?â Dustin did not want to quarrel with her.
âEight million⦠No! Ten!â Florence was thinking on her feet and inflated the price at the very last
minute.
âMom! We bought this villa for five million. Arenât you scamming Dustin by asking for ten million? âDahlia grew increasingly annoyed.

âThat was in the past. Donât you know that housing prices are climbing like crazy? I wonât let this slide if I donât receive the ten million!â Florence put her hands on her waist.
âYou-â Dahlia was about to go off, but Dustin pressed a hand against hers.
âWhatever. Ten million it is. Iâll transfer it to your account tomorrow.â
âHmph! Thatâs more like it!â She gleefully let go of him.
âHey! Are you mad? Where are you going to get the money when youâre running a tiny medical center?â Dahlia glared at him.
âYou shouldnât underestimate me. I provided the Harmon family with my prescription, and I will receive 50% of the sales of the pills they manufactured. Ten million is nothing.â Dustin appeared unbothered. Be it the profits from Hillview Hotel or his 50% ownership of the proceeds from Immortunol, he was guaranteed a huge amount of bonus monthly, which could add up to at least tens of millions per month.
âAt the end of the day, youâre still Natasha Harmonâs kept man.â Dahlia was dripping with jealousy.
âLook at the way you put it. I am only her business partner. How could you call me a kept man?â Dustin objected.
