Chapter 437 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
It was evening, and Dustin was sitting in the living room of Enchanting Villa, engrossed in a book, when
Abigail suddenly rushed down the stairs.
âUncle! I need your help with something urgent! Will you accompany me somewhere? Abigail leaned in, acting secretive.
âWhere do you want to go?â Dustinâs curiosity was piqued.
âItâs a secret. Youâll find out once we get there.â Abigail playfully dodged the question.
âIf you donât tell me, I wonât go.â Dustin firmly declined.
âWell will you come with me if I tell you?â Abigail frowned.
âIt depends on the situation.â Dustin shrugged.
âAlright, Iâll tell you. My friend is celebrating her birthday tonight, and weâve planned to have some fun together,
Abigail revealed with a mischievous smile.
âWhat does your friendâs birthday have to do with me? Iâm not going.â Dustin rolled his eyes.
âHey! Youâre not keeping your word! You just promised me earlier!â Abigail became a bit anxious.
âI said it depends on the situation. I didnât promise you anything.â
âYou, you, you⦠youâre being unfair!â Abigail stomped her foot in frustration.
âListen, young lady. Iâd rather quietly read my book than join you youngsters.â Dustin waved his hand dismissively.
âIâm giving you an opportunity here! Do you know that my friend is a celebrity? Sheâs gorgeous.â Abigail tried to tempt him.
âIâve seen plenty of beautiful girls. Iâm not interested.â Dustin shook his head.
âHey! Are you even a man? Youâre not interested in women at all?â Abigail bit her lip and snatched the book. from Dustinâs hand. âUncle, please, canât you do it for me? If you donât go, I wonât be able to go cither!â
âWait. Why does it matter if I go or not? You can go without me.â Dustin was speechless.
âYou donât believe me, huh? Follow me then.â Without waiting for a response, Abigail grabbed Dustinâs hand and pulled him towards the exit. However, when they reached the front door, Edmund suddenly appeared and blocked their way with a somewhat menacing look.
âYou see that now?â Abigail turned her gaze toward Dustin as if saying, âSee, this is why I canât leave.â
Whenever she wanted to go out at night, her father would appear like a ghost, and there was no escaping him.
âUmâ¦â Dustin was momentarily speechless.
âAbigail, youâre going out again at this late hour? Wasnât the lesson from last time enough?â Edmund sald sternly.
1/2
âHey, hold on! Get it straight! Itâs not me who wants to go out. Itâs this guy here, and Iâm just accompanying him,â Abigail lied without batting an eye.
âMr. Rhys, are you going somewhere?â Edmund was slightly stunned, but soon, his expression softened.
âSort of.â Dustin forced a smile.
âDid you hear that? Uncle said heâs feeling bored at home and wants me to take him out for a stroll. Are you going to stop him?â Abigail spoke coldly. With that arrogant demeanor, she seemed to be leveraging Dustinâs presence.
âIt Mr. Rhys wants to go out, of course, I wonât stop him. But please be careful and avoid crowded places.â Edmund squeezed a smile.
âUnderstood. You can step aside now, and donât dampen Uncleâs mood.â
With that, Abigail forcefully dragged Dustin away.
She immediately showed her true colors once they were out of Edmundâs sight. âUncle, I didnât expect you to be so useful. It seems Iâll have to make good use of you as my tool in the future.â
âJust listen to what youâre saying.â Dustin responded impatiently. âEither study diligently or practice martial arts seriously. Donât wander around aimlessly all the time and waste your great talent.â
âUncle, Iâve been training all day. Donât you understand the importance of workâlife balance? I should at least take a break, right?â Abigail raised her head proudly. âConsidering that you helped me once, Iâll treat you to something tonight!â
Dustin shook his head and couldnât be bothered to argue with her.
