Chapter 47 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âMr. Harmon, I have to attend something else. Please, excuse me.â After a few exchanges, Duane got ready to leave. He had come because of a renowned doctor. He wouldnât stay long since it was just a sham.
âMr. Welch, I suggest you listen to Mr. Rhysâ advice and stay around Swinton for these few days to avoid anything.â Natasha kindly reminded him.
âNatasha, you donât have to worry about me. You should worry about yourself,â Duane piped up thoughtfully. âI remember your engagement to Tyler Grant is imminent. I donât think a man like him would like it if you were
too close to other men.â Natasha couldnât help but frown at these words. He had touched on a sensitive topic.
âItâs just an engagement. Weâre not even married yet. At worst, I can break off the engagement,â Natasha answered casually.
âBreak off the engagement? Thatâs the Grant family youâre talking about. Have you thought of the consequences of your actions?â Duane was slightly bewildered.
âWhat consequences would there be? They canât do anything to me,â Natasha replied calmly.
âThe Grant family might not do anything to you, but Iâm not sure about the one next to you. Youâre well aware of the Grant familyâs ways. The closer you get to him, the more danger heâs in.â
Duane gazed toward Dustin. His implications were clear. âHmph! I donât believe Tyler would cause any trouble!â Natasha maintained an impassive face.
âIâm just reminding you. What you do is up to you.â Duane didnât say more and left with a smile. âWhat Duane says is true. Youâd better deal with the matter between you and the Grant family.â Andrew warned.
âGrandfather, I know what to do.â Natasha nodded.
Although they had been engaged since young, she had never fallen for him. How could she marry someone she doesnât have feelings for? Besides, she despised arranged marriages the most!
âMs. Harmon, Sir Hummer is requestign to see you,â a bodyguard informed her after entering.
âEdwin Hummer?â Natasha raised an eyebrow. âI was just about to see him. I didnât expect him to come first. Bring him to the lounge, Iâll be there in a second.â
âYes, Ms. Nicholson,â the bodyguard replied promptly and left.
âMr. Rhys, Iâm going to see what I can find out from Edwin. You can pretend to be my bodyguard and Improvise.â Natasha glanced at the man beside her. âOkay,â Dustin agreed and nodded his head.
Todayâs ceremony was bait for the prey. Now that the prey was here, he could not pass on this opportunity.
Three minutes later, Dustin and Natasha arrived at another lounge. Edwin and Fletcher were leisurely enjoying some tea inside. Behind them were a pair of twins.
âMs. Harmon, congratulations on your grand opening!â Edwin immediately congratulated her.
He seemed like a wolf in sheepâs clothing.
they were âWelcome. Sir Hummer. Itâs a pleasure to have you here!â Natasha greeted cheerily. Although they enemies, they had to put on a cordial act.
âI see a few new faces around you. Arenât you going to introduce them?â Natasha looked toward Fletcher and the other two men.
âOh! This is an old friend of mine, Mr. Lawson. He helps me with my personal affairs. As for these two young âmen, theyâre his apprentices,â Edwin introduced them without hesitation.
âSo youâre Mr. Lawson. Itâs a pleasure to meet you.â Natasha smiled.
âMr. Lawson, I have something to discuss with Ms. Harmon. You can leave the room.â Edwin gave them a look, hinting for them to leave.
âYes, sir.â
