Chapter 871 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âMadam Edith, I can testify that Brittany was the one who got the Jade Maiden Scripture!â
âThatâs right. It was all thanks to Brittany. That rotten bastard had nothing to do with it!â âNikki, you must have been mistaken.â
The disciples spoke out one after the other, choosing to side with Brittany.
âYâyou all!â Nikki was annoyed. She couldnât believe all of them were exactly like Brittany. They didnât hesitate to change the truth. It was outrageous!
âDid you hear that, Nikki? Everyone here saw it. Are you still going to argue with me?â Brittany smirked triumphantly.
She looked at Nikki as if she were a fool.
In the Jade Maiden Sisterhood, other than Madam Edith and a few elders, nobody dared to go against Brittany. She could distort the truth as she liked.
âMadam Edith, please believe me. Iâm not lying!â Nikki didnât give up and tried to get Madam Edithâs support.
âMany of them are saying youâre wrong; how am I supposed to believe you?â Edithâs expression was frosty.
âIt seems like exhaustion is making you confused. If thereâs nothing else, you should return to your room and rest.â With that, Edith turned around to leave.
âMadam Edith!â
Nikki panicked and grabbed her sleeve. âIâm not lying. Itâs Brittany who-!â
âShut it!â Edith grew impatient and slapped Nikki across the face.
Following the crisp sound, Nikki was knocked to the ground. Her cheek swelled as blood. trickled down the corner of her mouth. She struggled to get up.
âYou spoke ill of your senior and showed no respect to your elders! You have overstepped your boundary! You must be taught a lesson. Otherwise, youâll repeat the same actions or worse!
âYou will kneel here until night! Youâre not allowed to get up before then!â Edtihâs tone was sharp, and her expression dark.
âMadam Edith?â Nikki cupped her cheek, feeling lost. She wasnât lying.
She was just asking for justice. Was that wrong?

âHow dare you!â Brittany glared at Nikki, enraged.
âNikki Horst, are you questioning me?â Brittany roared.
âIâm just speaking the truth.â Nikki lowered her head slightly, but her gaze remained. unyielding.
âThe truth? Hmph! Youâre just trying to undermine me!â Brittanyâs expression soured.
âWeâre guild members, and I canât believe youâd challenge me on behalf of an outsider!â
With her seniority in the guild, no one dared talk back to her, even when she was oppressive and unjust.
She couldnât believe Nikki questioned her publicly and embarrassed her. Nikki should have known her place!
âBrittany, donât you have a conscience? We canât just ignore it when Dustin helped us out,â Nikki reasoned.
âShut up!â Brittanyâs temper flared, and she slapped Nikki hard across the face.
She screamed, âWho the hell do you think you are? How dare you lecture me?â
âYou-!â Nikki bit her lips, feeling wronged. Her face was swollen from the slap.
Just then, Edith finally spoke up, âEnough! Weâre all members of the same guild. Thereâs not need to argue about a small matter.â
âMadam Edith, Iâm telling the truth. Dustin handed the Jade Maiden Scripture to me personally before I handed it to Brittany!â Nikki tried to explain.
âDo you have proof?â Edith asked impassively.
âThe other disciples saw what happened. They can vouch for me!â Nikki pointed at them.
âOh, is that so?â Edith looked over lazily at the other disciples.
âMadam Edith is asking a question. All of you must answer truthfully!â Brittanyâs expression was icy, and her gaze was hostile.
