Chapter 961 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
But Dustinâs attitude only stirred Vanessaâs competitive spirit. âHey, canât you be a little friendlier?â Vanessa pouted teasingly. âItâs polite to return kind gestures. Iâll lose sleep if I donât repay you.â
âYouâll be fine with a couple of sleeping pills. Goodbye,â Dustin replied curtly before walking away.
âWait, mister!â Vanessa tried to catch up to him but stumbled after a few steps. As she fell, her torn clothing. revealed her voluptuous figure. Dustin paused briefly to remove his coat and tossed it to her.
âThanks!â Vanessa quickly covered herself with the coat, feeling genuinely grateful.
âVanessa!â
A man and woman approached. Their elegant fashion tastes made it easy to tell that they held a higher status than ordinary citizens!
âIâm here!â Vanessa waved at them, her spirits lifting.
âWhere did you go, Vanessa?
âWhy didnât you inform us? We were so worried!â The woman in red feigned annoyance.
âWhat happened to you, Vanessa? And why are you dressed like this? Did something bad happen?â The man in black was puzzled.
âI encountered some thugs earlier. But thankfully, this young man saved me!â Vanessa recounted,
fear still in her voice.
âI see.â The man in black studied Dustin doubtfully.
âThank you for saving Vanessa,â said the woman in red.
She nodded respectfully before continuing, âIâm Emily Hoyles, and I belong to Azure Mist.
âThis is my senior, Nathan Hoyles. Mind if I ask for your name?â
âMy surnameâs Rhys.â Dustin nodded politely in return.
âNice to meet you, Mr. Rhys.â Emily smiled.
âJudging from your accent, youâre not from around here, right? Are you here to search for Iris
Meskillâs tomb?â
âHmm?â Dustin raised an eyebrow, surprised.
âHow did you know?â
âJust a hunch.â Emily smiled.
âLesterâs been lively today, and even Azure Mist received news about it, too. So, other than tourists,
âGood intuition. Iâm impressed,â Dustin complimented.
âSince weâre all after the treasure, why donât we team up for safety? What do you think?â Emily offered.
Most adventurers who came today were capable, so working together would benefit everyone.
âIâm used to traveling alone, so I might slow you guys down,â Dustin declined politely.
âYou saved Vanessa, so itâs only fair we repay the favor.
âYouâll even get a share of the treasure once we find it.â Emily insisted.
When she saw Dustin hesitate, she added, âThe Black Forest is dangerous and filled with poisonous mist.
âPeople who donât know their way around that place will get lost easily. However, weâre locals, so itâll be safer for you to travel with us.â
âEmily/letâs not force someone.â Nathanâs tone held some annoyance.
Others would have jumped at the chance to travel with them, yet Dustin was still hesitating
What a fool!
âThe Black Forest is dangerous. Itâll be safer if you travel with us,â Vanessa said.
She was grateful for what heâd done for her, so she didnât want him risking his life in vain.
Dustin gave it some thought and agreed. âIâll accept your offer since you insist.â
He wasnât familiar with the Black Forest, so having a guide would save a lot of trouble.
âAlright. Letâs meet at the hotelâs restaurant tonight.â Emily and the two walked away. Before leaving, Vanessa glanced at Dustin.
