Chapter 1012
When Love Comes Late
Leslie, feeling emboldened by this update, turned to Stella.
âI know how the bracelet fell.
Are you going to deny what you did?â
Stella, unfazed, met Leslieâs accusation with a calm, dismissive sneer.
Attempting to resolve the situation, the shop assistant suggested, âPerhaps both parties could share the cost of the damage.
â
Stella found the proposal ludicrous, especially given the circumstances and Leslieâs blatant attempt to blame her.
Stella frowned, her gaze fixed on the shop assistant.
âI need some time to uncover the truth.
â
Her voice was indifferent yet commanding.
The shop assistant acknowledged with a nod and stepped back.
Stellaâs gaze then turned icy as she faced Leslie.
âYou claim I broke the bracelet by touching you.
Did I use my left or right hand?â
Her tone was frosty.
Leslie seemed puzzled by Stellaâs question, yet she felt compelled to answer.
She fabricated, âYour right hand.
â
âRight hand-â Stella raised her eyebrows and chuckled, then pressed on, âAnd when did this touch occur?â
Leslie, taken aback, scoffed, âAre you joking? How could I possibly remember the exact time? Are these questions just a way for you to buy time?â
Miley, also confused by Stellaâs line of questioning but trusting her intentions, couldnât stand to see Leslieâs smug expression.
She whispered urgently to Stella, âThereâs no need to play her game.
We can handle this more directly.
â
âDonât worry,â Stella reassured Miley with a comforting pat and a smile.
Turning her attention back to Leslie, Stellaâs voice softened.
âYou may not recall, Leslie, but I do.
It was around ten-eighteen this morning.
I remember because I parked my car at ten-ten.
And itâs parked right outside.
So, what the storeâs camera missed, my carâs dash cam would have captured.
â
Leslieâs face drained of color, words failing her.
Stella continued firmly, âIâm willing to give you another chance, for your fatherâs sake.
Confess now, or we involve the police.
But rememberâââ
Stellaâs smile was soft, her voice gentle, yet her eyes held a glint of cold sharpness.
