When Love Comes Late
The fire in Matthewâs eyes just now almost made her pee in her pants.
She made a mental note not to pry in his privacy from now on.
Erin got back to work as if she didnât have a bone of gossip in her.
The ground floor became as silent as a graveyard within seconds.
After drying her hair with the towel, Stella sat on the sofa with her hands on her knees in wait for the security guard.
The doorbell rang about two minutes later.
Erin went to answer it and then looked back at Stella.
âMiss, the security guard is here.
â
Stella sprang to her feet and nodded slightly to Erin.
âThank you.
Please inform Mr.
Clark of my departure and that I said thanks.
â
âWill do,â Erin said gently.
âItâs still raining.
Take this with you.
â
Stella nodded and took the umbrella that was stretched out to her.
In the study upstairs, Matthew stared at his computer screen, watching something.
It wasnât until he saw Erin shut the front door and return to her duties that he finally withdrew his gaze from the screen.
He then flipped to the next page of the document in his hand.

By the time Stella returned home, Miley was standing at the door with an umbrella over her head.
âWhere the hell have you been, Stella? I tried calling you, but your phone was left at home.
You got me so worried.
â
Noticing the umbrella in Stellaâs hand, she asked in surprise, âYou took an umbrella out? How did you know it would rain?â
âI didnât.
Someone lent this to me,â Stella explained briefly.
She thanked the security guard and followed Miley into the house.
After leaving the umbrella to dry somewhere, Stella stretched her body and said, âThe walk did me a lot of good.
Now that Iâm in a much better mood, I can start drawing the designs.
â
Miley studied her expression and only felt relieved when she noticed that Stella wasnât lying to her.
âOkay, letâs get that bag!â She grabbed Stellaâs arm and pulled her away.
