Chapter 1085
When Love Comes Late
Stella sat in the back seat, looking after Amara, who was in bad shape.
Amara murmured repeatedly, âHome⦠I want to go homeâ¦â
Driving fast, Matthew kept glancing at Amara in the rearview mirror, worry filling his eyes.
âWeâre heading back to Seamarsh,â he assured her.
Matthew took Amara back to Seamarsh, settling her in at Prosper Bay for the time being.
Luckily, Amaraâs head injury was minor, with just a little bleeding.
Otherwise, she was fine.
Back from the hospital, she just sat on the sofa, not saying a word.
Matthewâs phone rang again.
It was another call from Fernando, noticed by Stella.
Fernando had been calling frequently, from the hospital visit till now, signaling some urgent business at work.
Stella thought for a moment, then whispered, âYou should head to the office.
Iâll stay here with your mom.
â
Matthew gave her a long Look but didnât argue.
He simply said, âCall me right away if you need anything.
â
âWill do.
â Stella nodded in agreement.
After Matthew left, Stella got a glass of water and sat next to Amara.
âHere, drink some water,â she said softly.
Amara shook her head no, and Stella didnât push.
She just placed the glass on the table and sat quietly next to Amara, who was still silent.
Eventually, Amara broke the silence.
âStellaâ¦â
âYes? Are you feeling tired? Do you want to go to your room and rest?â
Amara let out a soft sigh and managed a bittersweet smile.
âDo you think Iâm naive? I still believe in love at my age.
â
The thought of Wilbertâs sudden change filled Amaraâs heart with disappointment.
She had completely fallen for Garry once, only to be tricked by him, ending up pregnant with Matthew.
Having Matthew wasnât something she regretted.
She was just upset with herself.
Couldnât she have learned from her past lesson?
