Chapter 1183
When Love Comes Late
In this freezing weather, she was at risk out here.
He didnât waste any time calling the police, and then he took her to the nearest hospital.
Once she was checked over, the doctor informed him, âShe has some minor skin injuries, but weâve treated them with medication.
â
Looking at the woman still out cold, Matthew asked in a worried tone, âIf sheâs okay, why hasnât she woken up?â
The doctor explained, âShe drank too much.
We had to pump her stomach.
Her family should stick around for a bit.
â
Matthew almost explained he didnât know the woman, but the doctor was gone too fast.
Shrugging it off, he dialed Stella.
Worried she might be waiting, he explained, âStella, something unexpected came up.
Iâll be a bit late.
â
âAlright,â Stella responded, her words few but caring.
âJust be safe getting back.
â
âWill do,â he replied shortly, ending the call.
Putting his phone away, he noticed the woman in the bed starting to wake up, trying to sit up.
âHold on there,â Matthew said softly, easing her back down.
âThe doctor will be back for the procedure.
Stay put for now.
â
She gave him a quiet, two-second stare and nodded.
Shortly after, a nurse escorted her to another room.
âCould you handle the payment first?â she asked Matthew.
He went to sort out the payment.
When he got back, the woman was in a regular ward, getting advice from the doctor.
Seeing this, Matthew decided it was time to Leave.

As he was about to leave, the woman unexpectedly called out to him.
âSirâ¦â
Matthew turned around and inquired, âIs there anything else you need?â
âI wanted to thank you for your help today.
My nameâs Elizabeth Wallace.
Could I possibly get your name? Iâd like to give you my contact info.
â Her face turned red, and she clasped her hands tightly, her voice slightly shaky with nerves.
She quickly added, âPlease donât get the wrong idea.
I just want to pay you back for the medical costs today.
â
Matthew responded firmly, âNo, that wonât be necessary.
â
With that, he opened the door and walked out.
Elizabeth sat there, watching him go, a mix of emotions on her face.
