Chapter 121
When Love Comes Late
Miley grabbed her arm and examined her carefully.
âAre you okay?â
Stella nodded her head and said, âIâm fine.
By the way, what is it you wanted to tell me?â
Miley took a deep breath and asked, âGuess what I just saw?â
âihat?â Stella asked.
âYou know Iâm not good at guesses, so spill!â
âMaverick! I just saw that name on the list of visitors.
He must be here somewhere.
I have to teach him a lesson for messing with my best friend!â Mileyâs face twisted as she was filled with righteous indignation.
This news awoke Stellaâs nervousness.
Her eyes swept through the hall as one of her hands flew to her stomach.
She had never expected that Maverick would also be here.
Did this mean they would meet today?
Stella was on the verge of freaking out when Miley grabbed her hand and said, âLetâs go! That jerk canât stay hidden anymore.
Iâll help you fish him out.
â
âMileyâ¦â Stella dug her feet to a halt and pulled her friend back.

âWhatâs wrong?â
Stella said hesitantly, âI have never seen Maverick.
â
Before their marriage, her grandfather sent her a picture of Maverick, but it wasnât recent.
He was still a teenager in that picture.
His looks must have changed quite a lot since he was now an adult.
As a result, she couldnât possibly point him out in the midst of so many people.
Miley understood Stellaâs worry.
She was aware that the two of them were such an unconventional couple as they hadnât even met once.
It didnât surprise her that Stella didnât know what her husband Looked Like.
After thinking for a while, Miley suggested, âHow about you call him to meet up?â
âNo, I donât want to,â Stella refused without sparing it a thought.
The last time she called him, all she got was insults.
She didnât want to spoil her good mood by talking to him.
She sighed as her mind went to the picture of him she had received over a year ago.
Perhaps the way he looked so approachable in that photo had deceived her into thinking marrying him wasnât going to be that bad.
