Chapter 1236
When Love Comes Late
âIf youâre not willing to help, thatâs fine.
I just want to know why Bella has suddenly refused to meet me.
â Matthew pressed on, ignoring Elizabethâs displeasure.
Everything had been progressing smoothly before.
Bella even gave Stella a present.
But then suddenly, her attitude changed, and she refused to meet him even once.
âMy motherâs decision to see you is entirely up to me,â Elizabeth responded sharply.
Her words left no room for ambiguity.
The only path to Bella was through Elizabeth.
Matthew realized that further discussion with Elizabeth would be unproductive and decided to end their meeting.
He rose from his seat, intending to make his exit.
Surprised by Matthewâs determination, Elizabeth swiftly stood up in a desperate attempt to stop him.
âMatthew, if you leave now, I swear youâll never meet my mother!â
She was threatening him.
Matthew offered Elizabeth a brief, unemotional glance.
He brushed her hand aside and continued towards the exit.
Just as he was about to leave, Elizabeth suddenly collapsed to the floor behind him.
Matthew paused, turning back in surprise to see what happened.
At that moment, Bella appeared, rushing to her daughterâs aid.

After quickly ensuring Elizabeth was unharmed, Bella looked at Matthew sternly.
âWhat have you done to my daughter?â she asked, her voice laced with accusation.
Elizabeth glanced at Matthew and came to his defense.
âHeâs not to blame, Mom.
I slipped and fell.
â
However, Bella wasnât having any of it, as she assumed Elizabeth was just making excuses for Matthew.
She walked up to Matthew, who nodded at her and greeted her politely.
Bellaâs expression, however, remained stony.
When she spoke, it was in a voice full of anger.
âYouâre Matthew, right?â
Matthew nodded.

âWhatâs with the numerous attempts to contact me these past few days?
You know quite well that my daughter has feelings for you.
As a married man, you should be keeping your distance, not approaching her.
â
âI think youâve misunderstood me.
Itâs you Iâve been trying to reach, not Elizabeth.
I have something important to discuss with you,â
Matthew said.
Bella didnât seem satisfied with his explanation.
âSo youâre just using my daughter? I used to admire you for achieving the position of president at such a young age.
However, I mow have second thoughts about your character as a person.
â
Matthew said nothing in his defense, fully aware that Bella was still in the midst of her rage.
After a while, he finally said, âWhen you calm down, I hope we can have a conversation.
â
Bella offered no response.
She turned away and left with Elizabeth.
