Chapter 1285
When Love Comes Late
Every minute wasted stalls the entire shoot.
â
The tension crackled in the air.
Everyone knew Luther was furious.
After all, Stella wasnât just a stylist in the filming crew; she was also Matthewâs wife.
The crew knew they had to tread carefully out of respect for Matthew.
But Luther had asked Stella to apologize.
Stella, however, was unfazed.
She spread her palms, her voice flat.
âI didnât do anything.
Why should I apologize?â
Elizabethâs sobs resumed.
âI donât need anything.
Just an apology from Stella.
Then I can forgive her and we can start filming.
â
Stella narrowed her eyes, recognizing the calculated play.
Yesterdayâs incident had been squarely in her favor, and Elizabeth should be the one apologizing.
Yet, here she was, painting herself the victim.
Stellaâs resolve hardened.
There was no way sheâd play along, let alone admit to something she hadnât done.
âElizabeth slapped herself,â she said, her tone firm.
âIf thatâs stopping her from acting, Iâm happy to step in for today.
But I wonât apologize for something I didnât do.
â
She stepped closer, examining the red marks on Elizabethâs cheeks with a knowing click of her tongue.
âYouâre being awfully hard on yourself.
Iâve seen the script, you have a demanding day ahead.
Is setting me up really worth this?â
Hidden from view by Stella, Elizabethâs face contorted into a mask of barely contained fury.
Her eyes, if anyone could see them, were daggers aimed at Stellaâs back.

Stella remained calm, even offering a slight smile.
âAnd those marks on your face are quite noticeable.
Maybe the makeup artist can work some magic.
â
Elizabeth fumed, teeth clenched, but forced down her anger.
âJust apologize, Stella.
Thatâs all I need.
â
âI wonât apologize.
I didnât touch you,â Stella reiterated, each word firm.
The standoff simmered until a sudden ringtone pierced the tension from the bathroom.
It rang briefly, then silence.
But the brief sound confirmed one thing: there was a witness.
Someone who could break the deadlock.
Elizabethâs eyes flickered in a moment of panic before she composed herself.
She called out, her voice surprisingly calm, âWhoâs there? Whoâs in the bathroom?â
Silence pressed down, everyoneâs gaze fixed on the closed door.
The door clicked and creaked, and then Elin emerged, head bowed, shuffling out slowly.
Relief washed over Elizabeth at the sight of Elin.
