Chapter 1345
When Love Comes Late
As he mulled over this, a fleeting thought crossed his mind, stirring something deep within him.
He tried to grasp it, but it slipped away, leaving him with nothing.
The next morning, Stella woke up to find an empty spot where Matthew shouldâve been snoring away.
She yanked the blanket off and dashed to the bathroom, hoping he was in there.
Nope, no Matthew.
âMatthew?â Stella scoured the second floor, but nothing.
Panic started creeping in as she realized sheâd slept like a log and had no clue when Matthew vanished.
What if something was up with his injury again?
She shut down that line of thought real quick, dialed Matthewâs number, and hoofed it downstairs.
But just as she was about to hit âcall,â a whiff of coffee hit her.
She bolted to the kitchen, finding Matthew brewing a pot.
With a sigh of relief, she snatched the coffee from him.
âYouâre hurt, remember? No coffee for you.
â
Matthew jumped at her sudden appearance, watching as she dumped the coffee.
âFine, no coffee,â he said, chuckling weakly.
He still looked wiped out from the journey and his injury was giving him grief.
He wanted to get energized with some coffee.
Stellaâs worry meter was off the charts.
âIâll warm up some milk for you.
Weâre staying put today.
And if youâre not feeling better, Iâm calling the doctor.
I canât relax otherwise.

Matthew shook his head, mustering a weak smile.
âIf you donât head to the set now, troublemakers might stir things up.
Iâm alright, just a bit banged up.
A few daysâ rest, and Iâll be good as new.
â
Stella got where he was coming from; sheâd been swamped lately.
She compromised, nodding.
âIâll go once youâve had breakfast.
And if youâre not feeling right, you better call me.
â
âDeal.
â
After breakfast, Stella helped Matthew to his room.
Once sheâd freshened up, it was off to the film crew for her.
But before she could skedaddle, Matthew halted her.
âHey, babe, sorry youâre caught in the middle of all this.
Itâll clear up soon, I promise.
â
âIâm good,â Stella reassured him with a smile.
âI trust the truth will surface before long.
â
Watching her leave, he reached for the bedside table, popping a painkiller before closing his eyes, trying to stave off the discomfort.
After a moment, he pulled himself up, heading to the study.
Dialing Fernando, he got straight to business.
