Chapter 1403
When Love Comes Late
Fernando phoned Matthew.
âMr.
Clark, whatâs the move?â
It was Carl.
Matthewâs gaze turned icy.
Recalling Stellaâs suffering, he ordered sharply, âHandle that guy.
â
In Dorburn, the moment Elizabeth got back, Bella grounded her and hired guards to camp at the door.
Elizabeth could barely make it to the garden; one step more and sheâd hit a wall.
Bella had pulled strings to shut down any online chatter about Elizabeth and sentenced her to a month of house arrest.
With zilch to do, Elizabeth tried to read but couldnât focus.
She was caged, while Stella was safe and her rep was intact.
âs BunnyBookery
This was unacceptable to her.
Elizabeth glared at the book, picturing Stellaâs smug face, anger brewing in her eyes.
Then, a knock on the door cut through her thoughts.
Elizabeth, already miffed, snapped, âBeat it!â
But the door swung open anyway, and in strolled Kristian.
Seeing his phony grin made Elizabethâs skin crawl even more.
âLeave!â
Ignoring her, Kristian plunked a tray on the table, saying, âThe maid said you havenât eaten all day.
Hereâs dinner.
Eat up.
â
Elizabeth scoffed.
Kristian stayed as cool as a cucumber.
âGorgeous weather, huh? Moonâs shining bright.
Youâve been cooped up inside since you got back.
You must be getting cabin fever.
Why not take a stroll in the garden?â
âKristian, whatâs the catch? Are you trying to get me in trouble with Mom?â Elizabeth mocked.
She had beef with Bella, but this had nothing to do with Kristian.
âWhat are you on about? Iâm your old man.
Bellaâs my wifeâ¦â
âSpare me!â Elizabeth cut him off, her expression dark.
Every time he brought up their âfamily,â it felt Like a cruel joke to her.
âGet to the point,â Elizabeth snapped, her patience wearing thin.
But Kristian, unfazed by Elizabethâs sass, just grinned wider.
