Chapter 1406
When Love Comes Late
As she reached for the utensils, Matthew halted her, offering a forkful of food.
He intended to feed her.
Stella chuckled.
âBabe, Iâve only got one hand down.
The otherâs fine.
I can manage.
â
Matthew shook his head, holding the fork firm.
âYou need to take it easy for that wound to heal.
Too much movement, and itâll slow things down.
â
Stella relented with a smile.
She didnât argue, finishing breakfast with Matthewâs help.
Afterward, seeing Matthew showing no signs of heading to work, she reminded him, âItâs almost ten.
Arenât you supposed to be at the office?â
âIâm off today, sticking around with you,â Matthew answered.
âWhatâs the plan? Watch TV or read the script?â
Stella sensed his concern and paused before reassuring him, âYour grandma once told me being Mrs.
Clarkâs tough.
But you always have my back.
Last night was just a fluke.
Iâve got this.
Besides, youâre not just my hubby but also boss man to a whole bunch at Prosperity Group.
Canât ditch work for me, right?â
Matthew chewed his lip, ready to speak when Stellaâs phone buzzed.
He motioned for her to answer.
Seeing Clintâs name on the caller ID, Stellaâs heart skipped a beat.
Did Clint know about the cruise incident?
With unease, Stella picked up.
Clintâs voice sounded stern.
âStella, get back to Bysea pronto.
â
âGrandpa, whatâs wrong?â Stella fretted.
âAre you okay?â
âWeâll chat when youâre here,â Clint insisted, voice firm.
The short phone call with Clint made Stella quite worried.
What could be so urgent in Bysea that her grandfather would suddenly ask her to return?
Naturally, Matthew noticed Stellaâs worried expression, which made him a little nervous too.
âWhat did Grandpa say to you?â he asked.
Heaving a sigh, Stella told him everything Clint told her on the call.
She wanted Matthew to help her make a decision.
âIs Grandpa sick again? He was sick before, but he didnât tell me.
Could he be seriously ill this time?â
The thought of Clint being seriously sick made Stella very nervous and she couldnât sit still any longer.
She hurriedly stood up with the intention of packing her things.
âHey, calm down first, okay? You shouldnât overthink.
Perhaps thereâs just something grandpa needs to discuss with you and itâs not convenient to talk about it on phone.
Donât get too worked up,â
