Chapter 1407
When Love Comes Late
Matthew comforted her.
Sure enough, his words managed to reassure Stella a little and she felt relieved.
But even so, she didnât want to delay.
So, Matthew and Stella packed their luggage as quickly as they could and set off for Bysea.
When they arrived, Clint was the one who opened the door for them.
At the sight of her grandfather, Stella held the old manâs hands and examined him from head to toe.
It wasnât until she was sure that he was fine that she breathed a sigh of relief.
While Stella was examining him, Clint noticed the gauze on her hand.
âWhatâs wrong with your hand? How did you get hurt?â he asked worriedLy.
Stella instinctively withdrew her hand and explained evasively, âI was busy cutting fabrics when I accidentally cut my hand.
I could have just put a Band-Aid on it, but Matthew insisted on applying gauze on the wound.
â
She secretly winked at Matthew.
Matthew immediately caught on to what she was hinting and said, âGrandpa, I was the one who bandaged her wound.
Donât worry.
Itâs really not a big dealâ
Clint didnât doubt Matthewâs words a bit, so the old manâs expression finally softened a little.
Stella quickly changed the topic.
âGrandpa, whatâs so urgent that you asked me to come back in a hurry?â
It was only then that Clint remembered the important thing he had to tell her.
His expression became grave.
âThe orphanage called me this morning and told me that someone has been looking for you.
â
His words made Stellaâs heart beat faster.
There was a look of expectation in her eyes as she had her guess on who that person could be.
She asked in a trembling voice, âGrandpa, who is this person looking for me?â
âI donât know.
ALL I know is that itâs a woman.
Iâve asked Oliver to drive her here.
Theyâll be here soon,â Clint answered.
Stella was very nervous and she kept fidgeting with her fingers.
When she was lost in thought, a strong hand suddenly held hers.
The simply touch brought her back to reality and she turned her head to look at Matthew.
The calm expression on his face reassured her and helped her calm down.
Clint glanced at his watch.
âItâs already noon.
I guess you havenât had lunch yet, right? Come inside; letâs have Lunch first.
They would probably arrive shortly after lunch time.
â
Stella agreed perfunctorily.
The truth was that she had no appetite and only agreed to please her grandfather.
She waited impatiently to see who this woman was.
But at the same time, she feared that she would be disappointed.
Matthew had been quiet the whole time.
He had the same guess as Stella, but he also had a strange feeling.
After lunch, the three people went back to the living room.
They had been there for just a few minutes when they heard some noise at the front door.
