Chapter 1451
When Love Comes Late
Matthew glanced down, saying nothing.
With the guidance of Neville, he did feel much better.
Their conversation didnât last much longer.
Neville exited first after a call from Miley.
Matthew also returned to Prosper Bay.
When he entered the room, he spotted Stella sitting on the sofa, looking unhappy.
Matthew had a hunch and took a seat beside her.
âWhy are you still awake? When did you finish the dinner?â
âHave you been drinking?â Stella asked, her brows furrowed.
âJust some work-related socializing,â Matthew responded indifferently.
Stella chose not to probe further about the drinking.
Instead, she asked, âWhy didnât you mention your visit to Haley today?â
Remembering Nevilleâs words, Matthew apologized, âI messed up.
I discovered something then.
I was worried youâd get hurt, so I went straight to her.
Now that we have the DNA test results, my doubts are cleared.
Iâll work on controlling my reactions better.
â
Stella was taken aback, not expecting an apology from him.
Her irritation quickly faded.

In a gentle tone, she explained, âIâm not upset with you.
Iâm just concerned about any tension between you and my mom affecting me.
â
âI get it,â Matthew assured her, planting a ki*s on her cheek.
âI wonât let it happen again.
â
Stella felt reassured by his words.
She playfully nudged him.
âGo shower You reek of alcohol.
â
With a smile, Matthew headed upstairs, lifting Stella in his embrace.
After freshening up, Matthew noticed Stella was still engrossed in her artwork.
âWhy arenât you in bed yet?â
Stella continued her drawing.
âI want to work a bit more.
Iâve neglected the wedding dress for days.
Now that Iâm better, I need to catch up.
Iâm feeling inspired today, too.
â
Approaching her, Matthew cautioned, âDonât overdo it.
â
âNo, I wonât.
â Stella smiled, full of enthusiasm.
âIâm creating this wedding dress for myself.
It deserves my best effort.
â
Several days had passed.
When Stella and Matthew found themselves having breakfast together, their morning tranquility was interrupted as Matthewâs phone erupted into a melodic chime.
Glancing at the caller ID, he exchanged a look with Stella.
âItâs Grandma.
â
Then he pressed the answer button.
âMatthew, are you available today? Get ready, both of you.
Iâm eager to show you the wedding venue later,â Luciaâs voice, brimming with excitement.
Matthew said yes and hung up.
The phone, set to speaker mode, allowed Stella to partake in the conversation.
Setting aside her utensils, she turned to Matthew, a sparkle of enthusiasm in her eyes.
âIâll call my mother.
Letâs go together.
