Chapter 1502
When Love Comes Late
Stella was taken aback and froze, unsure of what action to take next.
The cleaning lady peeked out from behind her, commenting, âThis fellow looks like an actor.
His name isâ¦â
Upon hearing this, Stella quickly ushered her aside.
âIâve seen him in a movie beforeâ¦â The cleaning lady tried hard to remember.
Stella pulled out some money from her purse, handed it to her, and warned, âForget everything you just saw.
If you spill the beans, youâll be out of a job in Seamarsh forever.
â
The janitor nodded cautiously.
Without another word, Stella entered the room and closed the door behind her.
She went back to Luka to check on him, feeling almost certain he had been drugged.
âLuka, can you hear me? Itâs Stella,â she said, gently tapping on his face.
Luka opened his eyes, which were bloodshot, indicating he might have heard her.
Then he whispered weakly, âStella⦠help me.
I feel awful.
â
He adjusted his collar and unfastened a few buttons on his shirt.
Stella squinted, searching for a way out.
She knew she couldnât call for an ambulance.
The movie wrap-up had just concluded, and surely, reporters were lurking below, eager for a scoop.
Taking Luka to the hospital would only feed the media frenzy.
Mulling over her options, she dialed Matthew.
âGet to Room 1605, quick.
Weâve got trouble,â she blurted out as soon as he picked up.
Before she could hang up, Lukaâs arms enveloped her in an unexpected embrace, causing her to drop her phone in surprise.
Without a moment to retrieve it, she tried to shake off his grip.
âLuka, snap out of it.
Itâs me, Stella!â
Right then, the door swung open.
Debora entered, all smiles, until her gaze fell on Stella, and her demeanor shifted to a scowl.
âWhat are you doing here? How did you get in?â
Freeing herself from Lukaâs hold, Stella stood to face Debora, instantly grasping the situation.
With a cold edge to her voice, she asked, âWhy would you drug Luka?
Do you realize the damage this could do to his career and our movieâs press tour?â
âThis doesnât concern you.
Get out right now!â Advancing, Debora yanked Stellaâs arm, catching her off guard.
