Chapter 1572
When Love Comes Late
âGo back to Dorburn first,â she replied instead, growing impatient.
âWeâll talk about the other things later.
â She hung up.
The busy tone on Kristianâs end surprised him.
Once he realized he had been hung up on, his face became red from anger.
He raised his hand, intending to throw his phone in fury.
But he realized he would draw attention to himself once he did with the amount of people crowding around him, making him lower his arm.
He reclaimed his composure and proceeded to the boarding gate of the airport while carrying his suitcase.
He stopped when he walked past a deli, wanting to bring Bella some local snacks.
He was away from Dorburn for a long time.
It was due time for him to go back and make up to Bella.
The sun was long gone, and the sky had gone dark when Fernando sent the DNA test report to Matthew.
Once Matthew had looked at it, he carried it back to his room to show it to Stella.
However, upon noticing the injury on her wrist, he took the liberty to open the report first before handing it to her.
âA DNA test?â Stella read the bold words in shock.
âI asked Fernando to rerun the DNA test between you and Haley,â
Matthew answered her nonchalantly.
Stella took her time to browse through the report until the last line, which she read, âThe two samples are unrelated.
â
She didnât know what to feel about it because she was feeling everything at once, so she repeated the result over and over in her head.
Matthew set the DNA result aside and pulled her into his arms.
âThis is good.
Now that you know youâre not related to Haley, you wonât make the same mistakes in the future.
Besides, Haley had ill-intentions.
No one could tell what kind of horrible things she wouldâve done next.
â
However, Matthewâs words didnât seem to register in Stellaâs mind as she sat there preoccupied with her own thoughts.
âThen, whoâs my mother?â she murmured absentmindedly.
âWhere is she?â
She tried to think about it.
Since someone obviously asked Haley to pretend to be her mother, there must be at least one person who knew who her real mother was.
Otherwise, the odds were unfavorable.
Matthew felt his heart wrench in pain as he watched Stella get so upset with the news.
This made him decide to finally tell her what he thought.
âI have a guess.
Iâm not sure, yet, so I havenât told youâ¦â
âWhat is it?â Stella asked him, her brows knitted in confusion.
âIâm suspecting that Bella is your biological mother,â Matthew replied.
âWhat did you just say? Bella is my mother?â Stellaâs eyes widened in shock.
She had to clarify, âYou mean the Bella who asked us to take her test?â
She wanted to confirm if they were talking about the same Bella she knew.
