Chapter 1589
When Love Comes Late
âWhat now? Iâm going to bed!â An exasperated response came from Elizabeth, barely muffled by the door.
âBella might have remembered something!â Kristian hissed with clenched teeth.
âHey, hold up a second!â Elizabethâs voice sounded a bit flustered.
She hastily grabbed a coat, threw it on, then swung open the door and stepped out.
Dragging Kristian to the far end of the corridor, she scanned for any eavesdroppers before turning to him, her brow furrowed.
âWhatâs going on? Wasnât my mom supposed to have amnesia from the crash? How come sheâs recalling stuff now?â
Kristianâs face showed impatience.
âShe mentioned recalling a memory.
From what she described, it matched events before the accident.
If sheâs remembering now, who knows what else might come back tomorrow?â
The gravity of the situation hit Elizabeth.
She paced in front of Kristian, her gaze icy.
It took her a while to speak.
âWe canât let her remember any of that!â Her tone was firm.
If Bellaâs true identity got out, sheâd bolt straight back to her daughter.
And their whole world-their reputation, their careers, their fortune theyâd built around Bella would crumble.
Theyâd be labeled kidnappers and vilified by everyone.
Itâd be a disaster they couldnât afford.
Elizabeth wouldnât stand for it.
Kristian knew it too.
He hesitated.
âSo, uh, whatâs the plan now?â
Elizabethâs eyes turned steely.
âWe must drug her.
â
âDrug her?â Kristian Looked puzzled.
Elizabeth affirmed with a firm nod.
âBella needs to forget everything before, or weâre in deep trouble.
And Stella? Sheâs a real threat.
We have to find a way to get rid of her, then weâre in the clear!â
Kristian mulled it over and quickly agreed.
âYouâre spot on.
Iâll ring up the family doctor right away.
â
Turning to leave, Elizabeth stopped him in his tracks.
âBut Listen, it has to be flawless.
There has to be no slip-ups, got it.
â
Kristian nodded solemnly.
The next day, at Prosper Bay, Stella woke to find Matthew already dressed.
